I want Speed Racer with lossless audio! - Blu-ray Forum

I just watched it on tv the other day having never seen it, and thought it was an awesome movie. Really, really FUN to watch. I wanted to go get the blu of it immediately but was disappointed to read the review and see the lossy audio. That sucks. I hope they fix it soon.

Don't bet on it. Honestly, if you like the movie, pick it up. It's flawless in the PQ department and the soundtrack is still really solid if you've got a decent setup. I really enjoy it despite the fact that it's missing lossless. I don't see this one getting a re-release unless the Wachowskis make a seriously blockbuster and they do it as a tie-in.

I am right there with ya. Speed Racer is one of the most visually stunning movies available on Blu-ray Disc. It was shot digitally to begin with, yet Warner Brothers chose to put a rather bland lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack on the BD. It's still decent-sounding, but it's nowhere NEAR what it could be with lossless/uncompressed audio. Part of the problem may lie in Warner's use of BD25 discs for this title.

I have asked the same as you, and wish that, like they kindly did with Superman Returns (moving it up from Dolby Digital 5.1 to both Dolby TrueHD AND Uncompressed PCM 5.1), Warner will re-issue Speed Racer with audio that matches its video. I would re-purchase it immediately if it came out with lossless and/or uncompressed audio.

Zero expectations. Awesome movie!

Rented it when it came out. Holding out to buy with lossless audio on a 50GB disc (hopefully, it has the car models presented in HD)...or the 25GB when it's $10.

I'm sure they will get around to it soon enough. I heard the movie was awful from so many people, but gave it a shot and ended up loving it! I think I'll send the studio an email.

The only reason why WB put out an improved Superman is because Pioneer paid for it as a pack-in with their player that decoded TrueHD.

Speed Racer isn't getting reissued any time in the near future, but when it is, supposedly it will get an upgrade.

If you really like it, get it. I doubt it's a big enough seller to justify a re-release. So this is probably the best presentation of the movie you're gonna get for a while.

Is it a bummer that they didn't include a lossless track? Sure.

But the 5.1 track that is included is pretty damn good anyway.

I loved the old Speed Racer anime and always wanted to see this movie and by the time I was ready to see it the movie theatres pulled it due to low ticket sales and then Warner makes it worse on me for not including DolbyTrueHD on the Blu-ray

I picked this up over the weekend and had high expectations about the video quality. It certainly lived up to the hype.
