I just picked up the Panasonic TC-P54G10 a couple of weeks ago. I would like to hook up the VIERA link, and was wondering if this can be done wirelessly. My computers are on a network, but they are all upstairs fom the TV, and I'd rather nor have to run an ethernet cable all across my house. Are the features on the VIERA Link worth the trouble of setting it up. Some of the features look pretty cool, but thats just from looking at the menu. Does anybody have this set up that can give more info about it. Does anybody have it set up wirelessly.

My dad owns a Panasonic TV and Theatre-in-abox blu-ray player... I was under the impression that Viera Link is only for the devices to talk to each other... When we put in a blu-ray it will switch the TV over to the proper input and play the movie right away, or if we turn one device off, it will turn the other off as well...
Don't know anything about the internet and computers being linked to this sorry... |

I think you actually mean VieraCast. I don't use mine yet but I did try it. It's not bad.
If you don't want to run wires across the house, the easiest thing is some kind of wireless bridge. If you're savvy, you can use a Linksys router flashed with different firmware to turn it into one. Or you can buy one but they're about $100 or so. Alternatively to both of those options is to buy a game bridge type option- I think Logitech sells one. It's basically a simple plug-and play where you plug one box into your TV and the other into your router and it handles the communications protocols. I plan on picking up a wireless router and turning it into a bridge/access point myself, but haven't gotten around to it as yet. |

You're right aramis109 it is VIERACAST. I already have my home network set up with a wireless Linksys router, so if the TV is able to use a wireless card, then it would be easy to do. I'm just not sure if it can be done with the TV.
Celticpride, do you think it is worth the time and effort to set it up? |
