Default Help me convince a friend...

I have a friend with a complete HT with a nice Sony Bravia as well as surround sound and she wants to go BLU! The problem is her husband is a tight ass and doesn't like to spend money, I need help in helping her to get her husband to go BLU. Any thoughts?

Use a baseball bat and do not stop until he hands over the credit card,

or seduce her and let her move in with you,

or show him the benefits on your system.

Just don't get in the middle of it!

Tell her to wait for Black Friday and then show her how much money he can SAVE!

Unfortunately I only Have The TV no surround, I can show the benefits of PQ but not AQ really, but I should get him to come over and look

I would say leave them be, you don't want to be in the middle of this. Besides a friend with no blu means that you don't have to lend your movies out.

It isnt so much that he doesnt see a difference it is that he cant justify paying for a player...

I agree with don't get in the middle when money is concerned, you don't know their finances. But if you and she want to do it, maybe the best idea is to bring your player and movie over there and show him. It worked with my BIL and sister when I used to bring my PS3 and movies to the cottage. You will obviously need to organize it with the wife before hand, but pick a movie that they might want to see but don't have the DVD but you have the BD, then tell them you will bring it over and BD player. Seeing it on his own TV will most likely show him more then on your TV. Then (like others said) point out some good bargains when they show up.

Wow, that's a first, a woman who wants blu-ray and a man refusing.
Sorry for being sexist, but it's true that it's usually the other way around...
I agree, don't mettle if the husband is worried about the finances, there's probably a good reason and blu-ray isn't excactly cheap you now...

What's the point of a HT with HD and no blu-ray? It's like the guy wasted his money. Tell him that, then buy a BD player and put the HD HT to proper use.
And once purchased and installed, make sure she puts out later that night for her hubby too.

You can tell her to wait until Black Friday and just buy one then, I do like the idea of setting it up for them at there house providing the husband and you are friendly. Radio shack is getting rid of their Sylvania players, while not the fastest and with the most connections it still plays blus and is only a 108 bucks with a 30 day return policy . I'm in the same boat as you with my inlaws and while I have offered many times to buy them a bluray player they have refused. It's a shame to see a 52" Sony xbr only hooked up to SD content.

He probably enjoys DVDs with DD 5.1 or he's enjoying the NLDS in HD with 5.1 DD......

I don't know why people act like HT was invented to take advantage of Blu-ray's capabilities

I did say HT with HD. So yes, it would seem as though you would want to take advantage of that. Hell, if I could, I would have a true theater in my home...theater seats, digital projector, large screen and an usher. Yes I can.
