An unpaid videogame debt led to a 15-year-old boy being intentionally set on fire. According to police reports, by way of CNN, Michael Brewer was victimized by five other juveniles at a Deerfield Beach, Florida apartment complex. Apparently, Brewer owed one of the suspects $40 for a video game and hadn't yet paid it. The suspect then allegedly stole Brewer's father's bicycle, which was reported to the police. The suspect was arrested but was subsequently released to his parents. The suspect and two other youths later approached Brewer at the apartment complex. Witnesses told police that the suspect yelled, "He's a snitch, he's a snitch" and "pour it on him," before rubbing alcohol from a plastic jug was thrown on Brewer, who was then set afire from a lighter. A resident of the apartment complex came to Brewer's rescue with a fire extinguisher, just before the boy ripped off his shirt and jumped in a swimming pool. Brewer suffered second-degree burns over 80-percent of his body and is expected to be hospitalized for five months. Five juveniles were arrested earlier this week in connection with the incident. "A couple of them last night were laughing about it," sheriff's Sgt. Steve Feeley said. "One of them arrested today seems genuinely sorry about it." Seriously what is this world coming to? |

But I don't think kids have always been setting other kids on fire for stupid reasons. I blame YouTube for this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYjalL9_SRI |

![]() Edit: Oh wait, I realized it's probably flagged for minors, and requires an account to view. The title does pretty much sum it up, but if you want a lengthier description: Some guy (aka the idiot) in a banana costume has his friend pour rubbing alcohol onto his banana costume. Then they use a lighter to set him on fire, while someone stands at the ready with a garden hose. But the trickle of the water wasn't enough to put out the fire (it's wrongly implied in the comments that alcohol fire's can't be put out with water.... they can). So the kid rips off the costume, takes a cold shower, says fire is bad, and then goes to the hospital. Last edited by toef; 10-15-2009 at 04:41 AM. |

I never understand the Human Rights brigade who step in to defend kids or people who do such vile acts. In my opinion if you go out of your way to harm or infringe upon someone elses Human Rights with a blatent disregard; be it setting them on fire, breaking into their home etc....
Then the person in the wrong should forfeit their human rights... they'd be a lot more respectful if they knew they'd be a lepor in society and could legally have the shite kicked out of them  Nasty crime... Although there have been a couple of stories here where some yobs have been out to cause trouble but tehy picked on the wrong people... one lad picked on two guys in drag out on the piddle who happened to be cage fighters lol Another was filmed giving this guy grief on his doorstep.... the guy was in the army and belted the kid in the face  |

The deed is clearly reprehensible and beyond most reasonable comprehension given the apparent motive but with a kid this age inflicting harm on another most likely comes from years of abuse himself. Would not surprised me after getting arrested a parent beat the living hell out of him. Probably wasn't close to the first time either.
lol @ the douche in the banana suit |

Who wants to bet that this turns into a "kids are violent because of video games" debate for the media? It is sad what happened to the kid and those kids should be severely dealt with. Especially the ones who were laughing.

Shocking story. The fact that these kids were laughing about it, is disgusting. One of the kids was charged with attempted murder. They all had prior records. Pieces of trash. Bad parenting strikes again ![]() Hopefully the kid heals and lives his life the best he can. |
