I bought a Sony BDP-S2000ES blu ray player,it needs a new blu ray drive,or laser assy,as it stopped playing any type of disc's,blu ray and even CD's.
I call Sony and they will not tell me the part number,so also I cannot search Sony Parts,without knowing the Sony part number for the drive assy. If someone has access to a service manual or can somehow tell me the Sony part number for the blu ray drive assy(assembly) or even the laser assy.I would soo much appreciate it. |

Are you aware that the ES series has a 5-year parts and labor warranty? Opening the player yourself will void this warrantly.
If you're not concerned about the warranty you can try searching the internet for the service manual. |

I've tried everything!
Including searching for service manuals,even tried every search engine,I can think of.The only 1 I did find and I got my hopes up,it was a 5 page teaser. I mean un-friggin-believable.I can't believe I can't get a part number! Thanks anyways |

Just because your scared to fix something does'nt mean everyone else is. OH,man that's soo irritating,I know I should'nt let people,like friggin djc get to me,but it does!Easy to say things like that?Isn't it djc,when your on a pc?Meet somewhere,so AS# can be KI#$%#! Also djc, why are you on this forum? What do you think it's for? Some people work on their own stuff.Why accuse someone of having a stolen item,just because they want to work on it themselves? I apologize, I should have carefully worded it differently. I was being facetious, something that doesn't come across written down instead of spoken and wasn't saying it was stolen. Sorry, my bad.

Any chance you know the person you bought it used from? You could always see if you could get the receipt (which may or may not have name and address on it) and explain that it's needed for a repair. Or Sony might not even ask for a receipt since it hasn't even been out for 5-years. You might also want to look into a local Sony authorized repair center which might fix it under warranty.
Otherwise, continue to look around for the service manual. It's bound to surface at some point. Since your not worried about opening up the chassis have you've taken the cover off to see if the drive lists a part number on it? Do you know if the player was originally registered by the previous owner? If not jump on the Sony web site and register it to at least have that part covered. EDIT: This site lists some info on where to call and order a service manual.
