Default Let's sue Sony week part II

Here's another company seeking to sue Sony called Certicom ! This is proof that there is a movement to stop Sony, PS3 and Blu-ray ................

This time it’s a company called Certicom Corp. and it's not just about the PS3 but almost every electronic device Sony has made over the years. Certicom believes Sony has broken two U.S. patents for digital content protection by using Certicom digital encryption technology. This patent is affecting everything from the PS3 all the way to personal computers Sony has been making for years now.

Let me first state that I would really love to comment more on these patent subjects but because of my position I really cannot. I will just give sort of a general overview.

There are many companies that sole business is the licensing of patents. This happens every day. Sony is not being picked on so to speak, they are just a big company with large revenues that make them an easy target for patent infringement. If Sony is violating patents, this also means that consumers who buy the product are violating patents. However there is not a lot of money involved in suing consumers. This is why companies will go after the big ones. Also, big companies like Sony have money budgeted for paying royalties and such. This is actually more common that many of you would want to believe. Please, I would prefer this post to not become one where everyone says that Sony is being picked on.

Thanks,

Matthew Rounds

You made some valid points and your comment, but you have to take the timing of these lawsuits into consideration ! Sony has been scrutinized unfairly over the past 7 months ! Ranging from the price of the PS3 to Blu-ray and annual losses. There is more at stake here then game systems sales, The reputation of the company is in jepoardy with all the negative press. Yes I agree companies like Sony are targeted by money seeking a$$holes. And yes Sony is being picked on I think people will agree with that.

This reflects positively on Sony as a big successful company, as it's only big successful companies that are worth pursuing in this sort of speculative manner.
