USA Bram Stoker's Dracula Blu-ray

I have never seen the Francis Ford Coppola version of Dracula. I've heard it's pretty faithful to the original book. I'm a big fan of the Hammer Dracula's starring Christopher Lee. I also like the Bela Legosi version. Is this worth adding to my "Dracula" collection? My Target has it for 14.99, plus I have a 3.00 Sony Staycation coupon, plus my employee discount, it would be $10.49 for me after the coupon and discount!

Yes, it's an excellent movie despite Keanu Reeves. If you want to spend an extra few bucks, Wal-Mart has the monster trilogy (Dracula / Frankenstein / Wolf) for $40, so only about $13 apiece.

Go for it. It's an awesome movie, has great extras and it's really cheap.

I am a great fan of Dracula on film, and this is one of the best treatments he has received on celluloid.

I enjoyed the movie, but it's not completely faithful to the book (what movie is?). Anyway I remember when it was about to come out I bought the book and read it and was somewhat disappointed with the movie. My mom, however, bought the movie version of the book and she loved the movie.

It's a decent movie. I don't know much about the production behind it, but the film struck me as looking somewhat lower-budget and less epic than it tries to be. But the vampire goodness is there, regardless.

The look of the film is very deliberate, and more complex than you may think upon first viewing. All the special effects were done in-camera, as an homage to old time filmmaking. Watch the documentary on the disc or listen to Coppola's commentary for more info.

Yeah, the whole train riding over the top of the open book seemed overly complicated. But still pretty cool.

The effects were fine. My comment was more about how the film very much looks like it was shot on a stage--without even attempting to put the audience in the story's European locale. I'm not saying it's a bad movie at all. Rather, it strikes me as a solid, pretty, elaborate B-movie at times.

excellent film, definitely recommend you buy it! has great themes absent from your typical dracula movies, like romancism and my personal favorite: God. As Coppola said: "God is a character in this film." what is god's relationship with Dracula? how does that cause dracula to do what he does? these questions make this movie a masterpiece IMO.

I heard some talking about a bad bd transfer... Haven't seen it, but i've been told that it isn't a big upgrade compared to the double dvd.

In spite of some poor casting choices with male characters, I LOVE this truly decadent film. So glad to have it on BD.

I believe that Bram Stoker's Dracula is highly under rated and often over looked. It is excellent.

Transfer looks solid. Personally, I love the special effects/makeup, makes me miss the days of pre-over done CGI films.
