Default netflix membership?

it seems like I am paying $12.06 after tax for 1 at a time blu ray membership.

I get two movies a week but I cannot be a day late (must watch the same day received, mail it out next day).. otherwise it becomes just 1 movie a week.

So that's 8 movies a month maximum. For $12. I know the cost per rental go down with the 2 at a time blu ray plan, but is like a few dollars more.

Do you think that's a good deal..?

there is NO good deal when it comes to Netflix's blu-ray rental agreements. I have been with Netflix for well over 5 years now (I have the 4 at a time which they no longer offer) but I immediately dropped the blu-ray option when they decided to charge extra for it. Their explanation behind the cost increase made no sense to me. Greed sucks!

I stopped with Netflix due to them increasing the costs every other month.

But I thought $1.50 a movie is pretty good.. don't have to drive to get anything. We drop it off at the at work and it gets mailed out.
I don't have an electric car and gas cost alot to make short trips to block buster or those DVD renting machines.

The stream service movie selection and quality suck big time though.

Why not use Blockbuster Online? I've been using them for years and never had any problems or extra charges for blu-ray.

It's definitely worth it IF you rent enough movies in a month. My wife and I use the unlimited/3 discs at a time plan with blu-ray option, and between all the movies we watch in a month, combined with the streaming service that we utilize, we get more than our monies' worth. Granted, I wasn't happy with the increase for renting blu-rays from them, but if you break down how much we're paying per disc, and then factor in the shows we watch from the streaming service, we're still getting a killer deal IMO. That's also not taking into account all the money it's saved me on blu-rays I might have bought and would have regretted.

I am leaning towards Blockbuster myself. The local store never have any of the current blu in stock, they either carry too little copies of one title or don't carry the title at all.

i dont get the complaints on the extra blu-ray fee. if i pay an extra $5 to buy a blu-ray, why would i complain for paying an extra $1-2 per month to rent a bunch of them?

i switched from 3-a-month down to 1-a-month. i wasn't using it enough. plus with the 1-a-month, i can watch unlimited instant, which isn't blu quality, but is still good.

Well the BD fee is $4, isn't it? Or does it vary based on the plan (I have a free month of the 3-at-a-time plan, and added BD which was an additional $4)?

If the plan is $18 or 19 (I forgot what the 3-at-a-time costs) then the $4 isn't a big deal, especially since you'll likely be renting a lot of movies.

If they also charge $4 on the basic $4.99 plan, then that seems a bit ridiculous.

But if it's scaled based on the plan, then I don't see why it's such a big deal.

Yup, it's scaled...$2, $3, $4, and $5 based on plan...

Yeah, that makes some sense.

Although thinking about it.... Netflix has been around since 1997. I'm not positive, but I imagine that DVD prices in 1997 weren't much different than Blu-ray prices today. As DVD prices started to drop, Netflix profits started to go up (theoretically) and with the new format, now they don't want to go back to the smaller profits (even if just temporarily), so they added in the additional fee.

I ended my BB subscription because the local B&M won't exchange BD for BD. I think that was short sighted on their part, they had more then enough on the shelves.

I think it is funny that people mention Blockbuster being such a great bargain over Netflix since they don't charge the extra fee for the Blu-ray rentals. I pay $11.76 a month for Netflix one at a time. The Blockbuster Online is $9.99 and with tax for me would be $10.70. A whole $1.06 savings. I did belong to Blockbuster a short 3 months. In that time, 4 DVDs failed to show up at my house when they said they had been mailed. Each time, I think, I had to wait a week before filing a claim that they never showed up. That is why I went back to Netflix. But anyway, I think less than $12 a month for about 8 rentals is pretty good, considering Redbox doesn't have most of the stuff I want to rent and none of them in my area does Blu-ray.

I am on the 3 at a time plan with Blu-ray included. My average fee is $00.93 per disc. Hard to beat that.

Yeah, I signed up for the free Netflix trial and compared my two queues for the movies I wanted and 50% were only available in SD format from Blockbuster and all were available in Blu from Netflix, so I cancelled Blockbuster, plus Netflix streams to TiVo which was just more fuel on the fire...

I'm the same! 2 movies from Netflix a week is awesome, plus its saved me a lot of money. There were plenty of movies that I thought about buying, but rented first and found out that they are awful.

I have 3 out at a time with blu-ray access. I probably go through about 8 movies a week or so on average. So I more than get my money's worth at 22 something a month.

I agree, it has saved me a ton of money and is also the reason why I only own 10 Blu Ray movies.

Same here. I rent-um before I buy. Saved me from a blind buy on transformers 2. Only negitive I can think of is. Dont accidentally send them one of your own disks. You will never see it again. Had to rent one twice to swap them out.

Actually, they offer any amount you want to pay for... A friend of mine has a 5 at a time plan. You just have to contact them and ask for it.

I have a 1 at a time plan, and I just use it to get one latest release every week. Every Tuesday I get a new-release, so I only get 4 a month and it's still cheaper than locally renting anything...
