Default Disney's Blu-ray release system?

my wife wants all the classic disney films (cinderella, Aladdin, Snow white, Peter Pan) etc etc

but once disney releases one, they discontinue it later on? Do they have a release system or something?

with dvds Disney has a "Vault" and after a certain amount of time Disney puts them back in this "Vault" and re-release it later so they can make more money but i don't think they will do this with Bluray

No they will. I think Sleeping Beauty & Pinocchio should hit the vault sometime around January or early next year.

Oh yeah, Sleeping Beauty is going in the vault January 31, 2010 and I suppose Pinocchio will go in same date 2011 to be released again as Diamond Editions in like 5 or 6 years

The vault date is only the cutoff for orders to retailers, so some retailers will have stock until it sells through. Ebay or Amazon marketplace are likely to have titles that are harder to find.

Given the quality of the blu-ray releases over their DVD counterparts, I would strongly encourage patience rather than paying extra for the old releases.

You can still find many new copies of those classic movies on DVD if they haven't been released on Blu Ray.

Are Cars and Ratatouille being rereleased in a 4 disc set like UP or Monsters or is it worth it to buy the current verisons?

Well, anything's possible. But there's been no rumor of that happening in the near future. This is "purely my own opinion". But I'm guessing something like

2010: Toy Story I,II,III and Nemo
2011: Incredibles, Cars II, maybe a Cars re-release
2012: The Bow and the Bear, Shorts Collection 2 maybe?
2013: Newt, maybe a re-release of Ratatouille

Not likely. Cars was just re-released on Tuesday bundled with a DVD and two toys, but the actual disc content was the same as the 2007 release. What it really boils down to is how many bonus features currently exist and in what format (SD or HD). Cars and Ratatouille both only had single disc DVD releases and the Blu-Ray equivalents had more bonus features, but were still single disc. So to add a second Blu-Ray disc would require a lot of money to fill the disc with new bonus features. A Bug's Life had a 2-disc DVD set, but most of the bonus features were in SD, so it all fit on a single Blu-Ray disc. Whereas Monster's Inc. had a 2-disc DVD, but a lot of the bonuses were made in HD and so the Blu-Ray required 2-discs as well. I'd guess that Finding Nemo and The Incredibles will be 4-disc combo packs when they are released to Blu-Ray since their bonus features were made after Monsters Inc. and were most likely done in HD as well. But the bulk of the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 bonus features were done earlier, so it's possible that all of the bonuses for those films will fit on a single Blu-Ray disc, making them 3-disc releases (Blu-Ray, DVD, digital copy).

If you want Cars and Ratatouille on Blu-Ray, it's pretty safe to say that neither film will receive a substantial upgrade anytime soon, so you should get a good 7-10 years out of the current releases before anything better comes along.

People keep saying that Toy Story and Toy Story 2 blu-ray will be released until the third is available in stores but according to a site I visited they will be available in March 2010... the sooner the better

I was figuring toy story 1 and 2 released on blu-ray pre-release of toy story 3, and a different pixar release with toy story 3 blu-ray release or a box set...

In the UP blu-ray case there is an insert that states DUMBO will come to BD in February 2010.
