Default Will players work on standard TVs?

So I really want to start buying my stuff on Blu Ray, but i'm currently oveseas for 5 months and dont have my hdtv set up over here.

I was gonna buy a cheap blu ray player over here, but was wondering if they will work on standard fullscreen tvs. I know I wont get any of the amazingness of the blu ray picture, but I figure I might as well save re buying things in the future and start now.
Unless it wont work at all.........

Cheers

Yeah, it should work great. As long as it comes with the correct connections it'll work fine.

It will work just fine. I helped a friend set his new Blu-ray player up on his REALLY old TV. It plays the Blu-ray discs perfectly - just not in HD. Now, he, like you, will get a new TV next.

yeah blu-ray can be played on old tv sets but i found out you still need additional speakers to make up for certain sound that 4x3 tv sets lack

I still use a 32" 480i CRT with component cables for Blu-ray.
It's miles better than DVD even in standard definition.

Of course I have about $8,000 worth of audio equipment for the soundtrack playback which definitely helps, but make no mistake it's easy to see the visual differences that a nice bold MPEG-4 encoding makes with black shadow detail, macro-blocking, pixelation, etc., etc.
