This has been done a few times. I would try and find them to prove to you, but I don't feel like it.

It has been done before, and the way the question is worded really will not give anyone any idea of what volume different users are actually using. Every receiver uses different volume scales. Mine doesn't even go into the negative for example. Even people who have the exact same receiver model will not be listening at the same relative volume at the exact same spot on their master volume, because of differing speaker level calibrations. And even if all of their settings were identical... they'd probably STILL be hearing different volumes because of differences in their listening environments. The only way to find out what volume people enjoy their HT's at would be if everyone had an SPL meter and measured the actual sound levels.

That's in the menu setting, if you want your display to start off with - or with a standard number.

i'm going to try and find that and post back. You do have the Onkyo 606?

Yeah.... but it doesn't matter. I'm fine with the volume setting the way it is. Either way I'm just going to tune it to a comfortable listeing position But thanks for the offer.

I don't even look at my volume level. I use the control on the remote to adjust the sound up or down according to my preference. I could care less what it displays on the receiver.

Well said John, this is the way you should adjust the volume.
