Any early reviews? Got this as a blind order not knowing wheter it is region free.
I'm worried because i just discover that Harvey Weinstein name appears on the backcover. That can't be good...

My location doesn't matter considering i have a region B PS3. One day i will have a region free blu-ray player and my problems will go away.

The best movie I've seen all year, no contest. It is very emotionally draining but just about everything in it is perfect.

I haven't received my copy yet, it should hopefully come this week. I'll post an update on PQ when I do get it.

Update:

I received my copy today and checked out a couple of scenes and the black and white colour scheme looks great in high-def. I can't comment on the audio quality though as I am not properly equipped.

Thanks for the review, pro-b. This was shown at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and received positive reviews but I wasn't able to attend. I might check out the Blu-ray, however.

I got the blu-ray for about a week or 3, haven't seen it yet besides checking wheter it played on my region B player. Can't seem to put myself watching the movie because of the raping, killing, crimes against humanity.

Saw it few days ago and it indeed was a powerful and somewhat shocking film but I'm not sure if I want to own it in my collection at the moment. I'll but it into my 'low priority wishlist'. I have to do some serious catching up with the Studio Canal Collection titles and a lot of my money will go there in 2010.

I'm sure some of you disagree with my review below, but that's life.

Just got done viewing it. Now don't get me wrong, this is not some fluff-piece. There are some very brutal parts to it. I'm glad the movie wasn't completely one-sided, but when a war movie has too much of what I like to call a "Spielbergian touch" to it (meaning the director took the safer route, but not necessarily the wiser one) it usually falls flat towards the end, which is what happened with this. For such a controversial event like the Nanjing Massacre was, I was expecting much more.

I thought this was an amazing movie technically. As far as blurays go this one has some of the most amazing sound I've heard yet.

I think they did a great job with the movie itself though. Very engrossing, very brutal, and very heartwrenching.
