Man, that would be absolutely garbage if it wasn't the uncut director's cut, especially since that's pretty much the only cut of the 2nd Toxie movie i've ever seen.

Still, I hope the rest of 88 Films' Toxic Avenger blu-rays are widescreen since the first film is in the widescreen format. I honestly believe they cropped Citizen Toxie to the full frame format when they put it on DVD all those years ago.

Rabid Grannies (Dafuq?) coming to Blu-ray on March 10.

Quote:
Grannies are the greatest. They bake pies, tell stories and take you to the zoo. They don't ask for an arm and a leg in return. THEY WANT YOUR WHOLE BODY! It's off to grandmother's house we go for Rabid Grannies, the blood-splattered tale of two little old ladies who open a surprise package from Hell. Out slithers a mysterious fog that turns the grannies into ghouls who can't wait to sink their dentures into human flesh. Luckily for them, they have a houseful of juicy guests. Unluckily for their guests, these bone-crunching battle-axes just can't get filled up. RABID GRANNIES, these biddies bite!

Special Features:

Includes 2 cuts of the movie (Rabid Grannies and Rabid Grannies The Producer's Cut)
Deleted scenes
Interview with the producer
What the hell happened to you?
Tromatic trailers
The Toxic Avenger: Part II coming to blu-ray on April 14.

Quote:
Toxie's mean, green, and back on the screen! Melvin Junko was a nerdy 98lb weakling until he fell into a vat of toxic waste, turning him into the first ever superhuman superhero from New Jersey. This time the hideously deformed creature of superhuman size and strength takes on Tokyo. The Toxic Avenger Part II is a spectacular sequel with even more ingenious special effects, even more bizarre action, and even more unbelievably famous fight scenes. He's come a long way from Tromaville, baby!

Special Features:

Director's commentary
At home with Toxie
A word from villainess Lisa Gaye
Toxie on Japanese TV
Troma Trailers

Nice. I'm in for both. I vaguely remember watching Rabid Grannies a long time ago.

Where did you hear about this?

And producer's cut? Hopefully the uncut version will be included. The edited version of this is unwatchable...

Yeah, the DVD I rented made me wonder how Rabid Grannies wound up on someone's Troma Top 20 list. I had a hard time getting through it. I'm gonna assume now it was the cut version, and will definitely be picking up the blu-ray to give this flick another chance. Improved PQ should also boost it's entertainment value.

Hope Troma continues to dig through the vaults. I'm really curious to see Squeezeplay, and other potential gems.

Unless they're making a composite version of the new HD master with the uncut gore scenes spliced in, Rabid Grannies isn't worth a nickel. The uncut version is a hoot.

Rabid Grannies might be the worst Blu-ray presentation I've ever seen.

I just realized my UK Blu-ray for The Toxic Avenger Part III is the edited version and not fully uncut like it was on DVD. I thought seeing as how their BD for Part II was the uncut version, so would Part III.

I can't imagine it being a BBFC decision so it's probably down to Troma goofing up and doing an HD master for the wrong damn version. I think it's safe to assume then that Troma's BD will be the same mangled cut.

Actually just got this Facebook reply from 88 Films:

Quote:
We didn't know before we released it that we had [not] been supplied with the uncut version. We should have spotted this - however, this is the sole HD master available unfortunately.
So yeah, the US BD won't be uncut. Wish I still had my DVD.

Gotta love the Trey Parker and Matt Stone musical. I only like 3 musicals. This, Meet the Feebles and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Need'em all on Blu-ray.

I think Troma should at least incorporate the extra stuff into the movie even if it is DVD quality ala Silent Night, Deadly Night. Not that they will though but it would be nice. I was hoping to sell off my Toxbox once I got all the Blu-Rays but will now hold onto it due to the unrated version of part III.

Don't want to give false hope, and I wouldn't even know about this but, you never know if Troma themselves still has the uncut negative or materials. If not, then we'll make do. We don't want another Rabid Grannies fiasco. :P

Lloyd actually addressed Toxie III after 88 released it and said that extra gore was never intended to be there and all previous uncut versions were wrong. No chance of them releasing it Uncut stateside.
