Can a XBOX 360 behind the TV damage it?

I pick up the cheap xbox in walmart over the weekend. The problem is that the thing is too ugly and I don't want anybody to see it. I put it behind the TV where people don't notice it. Is the signal from the controller to the console through the TV damage it. I realized this question might be silly but the wife asked and I was not sure.

The controller will be fine. It doesn't need line of sight, and can work for quite a distance. The only problem might be ventilation. All electronics, and especially the 360, need proper ventilation. Make sure that you have plenty of space around all sides for it to breath.

The signal from the controller won't damage your TV though.

If the xbox is too ugly wrap it up with some wrapping paper to make it look presentable. Also, a good way to pretty up a xbox is spray paint it, or what you could do is apply some sticky shelf paper to it, maybe some sticky vener?

The heat probably will. The 360 really needs that extra ventilation and behind the TV probably ain't it.

I don't understand the "too ugly" comment either- to each their own of course but I find it hard to think of the 360 as ugly.

By the by, there are plenty of skins for the 360 if the color is off-putting. Personally I think it looks just fine.

too ugly? maybe you shouldn't have bought it....I mean seriously, is it supposed to look pretty?! It looks pretty mean imo. but to each their own!

It is too white and plain for my taste. Sorry if I offended anyone . I just want to play a couple of exclusives with coworkers so I did not really feel like shelling out for the elite. I might look into some kinda decoration on the cheap later. Somebody mentioned sticky vener, not sure what that is.

It is standing vertically about 4 inches from the back of the TV, do you guys think that is enough room for it to breathe?

I gave my 360 to my wifes brother...we have a ps3 slim and a wii...i tried to sell it on craigslist or to just random people at work and nobody wanted it...they either wanted ps3 or wii...Oh well he is getting alot of gaming out of it now so it didnt go to waste....Good luck on selling yours tho...just dont trade it in to gamestop they will give you like 10 dollars for it

I'm not sure how you have your equipment set-up, but if your keeping the 360 in a cabinet, you could purchase a black faceplate.
