Default Up and Monsters Inc. audio problem on Slim PS3?

I don't know if this is just an isolated issue or if others are experiencing this as well, but about 10 minutes into both Up and Monsters Inc there was a very short audio dropout for both movies. When I noticed it on Monsters (I watched it second) I rewound it to see if it was a disc error, or error by my PS3 or receiver, but there was no audio glitch...however 10 minutes after I rewound it it happened again. After that initial glitch it doesn't happen anymore.

The dropout only lasts for about half a second, but it is a little annoying. Has anyone else had this problem?

No problems with Up and my 40gb PS3. Have you maybe tried a different audio/HDMI cable? (Depending on your setup). I have to think this is not a disc issue as it is not repeatable on rewinding and isn't a PS3 issue per se as I had no trouble with an older one.

Well prior to the slim PS3, I was running a 40GB model, and an original 60GB model with the same HDMI cable and receiver, so I'm sure that isn't the problem. This is the first time I've noticed this audio glitch, but Im pretty sure it isn't the discs fault...maybe it has something to do with the current slim PS3s and the firmware?

I haven't really kept up-to-date with whether the slims are running a different firmware or not, but my gut tells me that they're not.

Have you tried some other discs? Same issue? To me if it's occurred on both discs and isn't repeatable, it could be a bad cable, even if it wasn't occurring with the old setup. Or maybe they just need to be reseated.

they dont run a different firmware, but they're different hardware, and in turn react a little differently to software. For instance, I know that the HDMI port on the slim PS3s do not have the same quality as the older models because I had connected it to an HDMI switcher and got nothing but snow (that never happened with my 40 or 60GB models), but when I moved the HDMI directly to the receiver the snow went away.

Kinda have the same issue here... but I have a different problem. On my 80g PS3 (MetalGear edition), all intro stuff on UP (previews and comming soon etc..) is dead silent until the actual movie starts. On my PS3 slim its all good... so wtf's up with that?? Latest firmwares on both units... I am bypassing my receiver at the moment with the 80g but I doubt thats got anything to do with it!

Watched both last night on my slim 120gb. No problems at all. Up took a good 2 minutes to load from black screen though...

I haven't seen UP yet and was going to buy it with the $10 coupon. Should I still go ahead and get it even though their are reported problems with the sound. I have an 80GB metal gear edition.
