How does the price match system work at Best Buy? Do I need to go to customer service or can I go to a regular register? Do I just need a printout of the product that I am going to purchase from say Walmart.com? Sorry if this is not in the right place but it seemed like the right one. Also sorry if this is a stupid question never did price matching before.

This has been discussed plenty of times.
Yes you will need to go to CS for them to price match. You need the printout of the ad from the other stores such as Wal-Mart / Target. BB will NOT PM AMZ. BB will PM their online store so before buying something at the BB store, I would check their prices online first! It depends which store you go, and which employee you deal with. Sometimes they will not grant you the price match. The Best Buy next to my office park is Superior! No questions asked and sometimes I don't need to bring in the prinout since they will go online and check the prices. Good Luck. Last edited by MaCruz; 11-12-2009 at 01:30 PM. |

Not at all Best Buys. The one nearest us won't do price matches at the register and instead tell you to go over to Customer Service. I always buy the item for regular price first, then go over to Customer Service to get the match plus 10% of the difference.

Although Best Buy does price match, you can tell they really don't want to.
I went to a BB store today to get a price match on Up & Monster's Inc. with my manufacturer's coupons in hand. I was told by the store manager that they could do a price match or honor my coupons, but not both. Excuse me, but the manufacturer's coupon goes directly to BB whether they price match or not. What am I missing here? ![]() |

It depends on which location you go to, what employee helps you out, and the manager on at the time.
If they choose to play hard ball and go by the rules you need to bring in the local ad. BB then calls them to make sure of the price and availability. If the store is sold out or does not confirm the price BB is not obligated to PM them. As far as on line goes they will match BB.com UNLESS it says "ON LINE ONLY". In this case its easiest to buy on line and do in store pick up. However SOME stores might grant you the PM anyways. The logic behind this is BB .com is meant to compete with on line vendors while the store is meant to compete with local stores. Each "location" has access to "special" deals from company's like WB or Disney. When you buy on line and do an in store pick up what happens is the store does work behind the scenes to sell from the on line stock not the stores stock. Selling from the stores stock voids come kind of contract with the vendor or something IDK. So yeah if your going to PM on line just do in store pick up its so much easier LOL Now as far as reality goes most times if you bring in a print out from on line for a local store like Wal Mart or Target they will PM right then and there at the register. Unless you already bought the item from BB then you need to CS desk to PM for you. If you bought the item at Walmart and want a PM at BB bring in the receipt they can do this PM at the register or the CS desk if you haven't bought it already from BB. Some stores don't require you to bring in the Ad they just check the competitor's site and grant you the on line price. Other locations give you crap about it being an on line price "not available in stores". Best way to do it is just bring in the ad or print out or receipt and try. Lately my store has been giving me crap because I do "too many PMs". So I went back to shopping at Amazon. Also they do not PM on line stores like I netvideo, Deep Discount or Amazon.
