Why year after year do CG animated comedy adventure movies get perfect reviews? I dont think i have every seen a bad review for a CG animated movie. Just like "up", rave reviews everywhere, yes it is a good movie but a unbelievable work of art like every saids, no way!!! The audio tracks on these CG animated films also puzzle me, they are good audio tracks, but when compared to a "Incredible Hulk" or a "Transformers" they dont come close, they dont hold a candle but yet once again "up" gets perfect scores. I dont get this fad. Just using "Up" as an example(because i watched it last night) great colorful clear image, but compared to a reference grade live action, no comparison. Like i said i just dont get this fad.

Anyway, you can't really judge animated films and live-action on the same scale. Up (among plenty of other animated films) is certainly reference quality, but in a different way than, say, Transformers. edit: In hindsight I probably just should have said what 42041 did. |

Actually, it is pretty difficult to find a good animated film. Movies such as Transformers and the Incredible Hulk appeal to the Popcorn Sci fi crowd that wants to see more explosions than actual plot (No offense), and alot of CGI films took the wrong direction by going for dreamworks "Pop culture" humor. Movies such as UP appeal to everyone because they have one important elements which alot of todays films that lean towards lower denominators. Storytelling, orignality and humanity, you see the life of Carl and while they had a happy life with each other and share a dream, they had to go through many of the obstacles of life. They were normal functional people, not superheroes or someone with "a purpose", nor they try to do anything that is their for attention of the audience, and yes even the fact he used air ballons to lift his house to the sky, dogs wearing collars to talk, one of which with a malfuntioned voice, and many of the weird crazy things, they all had their purpose and a belief, it is actually more realistic than many live action movies.

^ Exactly. Sound constitutes more than explosions and destroying your sound system with them. It's all about creating mood. That's why soundies and sound design people have thankless jobs... you only notice them when they mess up. Haha!
