Default Is Godzilla (1998) Blu-Ray worth buying?

I saw this at my local Walmart for about 20 dollars, I've never seen It tho, and I was just wondering If It's worth a blind buy?

Do you enjoy the old Godzilla movies? Do you like movies with monters destroying cities with not much in way of plot and stories? Do you enjoy CGI full movies?

If yes then buy it but my point to you would be, rent it first and see what you think and then decide if it's worth your $20

I like how there's a "should I blind-buy?" thread for literally just about every Blu-Ray that comes out. In the coming few days we'll see them for Galaxy Quest, Gone With the Wind, Rome, The Professional, Bruno, Clerks, Chasing Amy, and more.

I don't quite get this "should I blind buy" movies. You can rent them very easy and check it out and see if it's worth your money. I guess everyone is different and free to do as they wish with their money but it's something I don't quite get.

wait for it on a 9.99/12.99 sale at best buy. it'll likely see those sales pretty soon.

The absolute biggest disappointment of my adult life in watching a movie. I went opening day as a huge Godzilla fan and almost walked out on it. A horrible movie that really has little connection to the classic Godzilla movies. Even on its own terms, a mediocre story. Basically if you have seen one of the Jurassic Park sequels, nothing will be a surprise.

I could not agree more. I am an avid Godzilla collector and thought this movie was just terrible. Some of the older Godzilla films are bad in a good way. This film was simply awful.

When it's $10 or less, I'll bite. For the audio...and that last chase scene in the movie, which is easily the best part of the film.

I actually like this movie; it is entertaining and fun. I would suggest renting it as well since so many do not like it. I have it on DVD and was tempted to buy it thi week but I will wait untill it has a lower price. I would recommend watching it; it is a decent flick.

Default If you like it, buy it. Simple.

I bought it because:
1) I like it
2) The DVD is just horrible...in terms of video quality
3) The Blu-ray fixes that VIDEO issue, obviously.
4) The audio is even BETTER, SERIOUSLY!!!
Last, but not least, it was only 16.99...phew.

Target had it for 17.99, plus a free pass to go see 2012. Going to see 2012 tomorrow...So Godzilla really only costs 10.00.....

This along with Dragonball Evolution, are some of the BluRays not worth getting, not even for free.

Last Saturday I finally got to see Godzilla Final Wars; and it was good for the real deal (Gojira) take down Whimpzilla quickly.

It depends. Although I did enjoy this movie, I won't be double dipping simply because Sony could have done a much better job of video transfer. They could have also added more special features. Most of the reviews I read is only a 3 although not bad, but also not reference quality either. However the review for the audio is superb.

But if you never owned this movie on DVD before and enjoy monster movies, then Godzilla on blu ray may be for you. Just don't watch it and expect it to be the REAL Godzilla(Gojira).

i also considered buying this movie as well, maybe sometime down the road when the prices drop id buy it as i enjoyed it when it first came out in theaters. Although nothing like the original godzilla series, this was pretty entertaining and the sound i bet would very nice on blu ray as well as the picture.
