Default Da Lite High Power small Review...

Hi, i'am using a Da Lite High Power 106' Model B (Pulldown) screen since about a month. I paid 450$CAD with shipping in Canada for it.

My previous screen was a Elunevision with 2.4Gain Fixed frame that i've paid about 650$CAD for 3 years ago.

I'am using the pulldown because it was easier for me to pack in if i move since i'am in Appartement. The screen is always down and the High Power material from Da-lite is really good with weave.

The difference between this 2.8G screen and 2.4G screen from elunevision is enormous. At my biggest suprise. The blacks are now really good, way better than my Elunevision witch use a spayed glass material, this reflect the light in a lot of different direction and boost the light because the light is reflecting of the material in more than one directions. The High Power from Da Lite reflect only in 1 direction and it's you. The color and contrast is also way better.

The best thing is the texture. The High Power have virtually no texture at all while the Elunevision had A LOT.

Video gaming is great on this screen too. I'am using a Xbox 360. Great color, contrast and 3Dness.

In all, if you like high gain screen i suggest you check for Da Lite High Power. In my setup the gain is very good and not 'too much' i've calibrated the contrast with a test pattern and it's perfect.

If you have questions, please ask...

Do you have any screen shots? Would love to see it in action.
I am looking into getting a higher gain screen. I've been trying to get a decent sized sample but all I can get is small swatches like 5"x5" or 12" x 12".
The Da-lite High power is on my list. So is the elite power gain and I'm going to try some High Contrast materials as well. I did find a place that sells by the sq. ft. thanks to beta man.

Nah i don't but if you go at avsforum in the Dalite High Power thread there's a few picture with comparison like Wall Vs High Power, X Brand vs others. It's a good way to start

You can also write to Da Lite and ask for a sample. They'll send a 1x1 (feet) approx, to test it out..

Thanks for the reply Ryoohki,
What projector do you have? Also how is your projector mounted? Most over at avs say it needs to be as close to centered as possible with this screen. There are a few using it w/ceiling mounts though. Which is what I have.
Yeah I read through those threads and contacted Da-Lite I have samples on the way. I was hoping to get a sample about 1 foot by 4 feet so I could really see how it performs across the whole screen area (top to bottom).

I still may buy a sample that size to test before buying one though.

I use a Panasonic AE 3000, that is reverse downside (ceiling) at about 6' from the floor (bottom of the Projector). so it's not inline with my eyesight at all, but that thing have so much gain that it's still powerful enought

I also use LOW LAMP and Normal mode..

I too am looking at these screens and upon reading the AVS forum thread there is a change to the material now. Instead of 2.8 gain it's 2.4 and not as bright. I also will be ceiling mounting the projector so I'm not sure the HP will work fro me or not?

Unhappy Where did you buy it from ?

Hi,

I've just ruined my Dalite HP screen by trying to clean up a blotch that somewhat appeared on it.. now I have a refective spot that looks awful right in the middle of the screen.. can you tell me where you bought the screen from ? I need a replacement asap.

Thanks,
