PS3 online id change - Blu-ray Forum

hey i got my PS3 a couple weeks back and my buddy helped me set it up and i want to change my online id name he made for me... i tried to figure it out but can't seem to get it. if anyone has any idea how to do it please let me know

There's no user-accessible option to do this, your only chance would be to phone Sony up but even then I'd say your chances are quite slim.

I believe you can make a sub account from your main account and use that name. This doesn't transfer stats or anything so if you have played a lot of one game you will have to start back at zero (online of course).

I had the same issue when I set up my PS3, I am not very creative so I just used my name as my psn id. At the time I though it was dumb, but I wish more people would do like me, I don't want to call someone I am playing with by their psn id since a lot of them are not appropriate to say. Just put your name plus a few identifiable numbers or symbols.

You can just delete the PS3 OS account and create a new one. This will allow you create a whole new PSN account. Make sure you backup any user data though. You'll need to create the second OS account before deleting the original though. These can be renamed at anytime so don't worry about having to create with a different username.

Mines fairly simple. First name/last name and graduation year(hopefully) lol
