Default Wow! List of Future/Planned Horror Remakes!!

Wow I came up on this list of future remakes. I was wow'd by some of the names, but at the same time a few of these could actually use a remake. Peep the list below:

Amityville Horror
An American Werewolf in London
Blair Witch Project
The Birds
The Blob
Child's Play
Creature From the Black Lagoon
Dr. Giggles
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
The Evil Dead
Fright Night
The Funhouse
Hellraiser
I Spit on Your Grave
Jaws 3D
Mother's Day
Near Dark
Pet Sematary
Poltergeist
Scanners
Silent Night, Deadly Night
Suspiria
The Toxic Avenger

Man that's a lot of classics. Now I do feel that films like The Birds, Creature From the Black Lagoon, & Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde could actually use remakes. They are very old films and with the great ideas of those classics and with todays technology, I think it would do them some justice of what the directors could do with it today. Just dont go over board with it.

I am also very happy to see films like Fright Night, I Spit on Your Grave, Mother's Day, Silent Night, Deadly Night, & The Toxic Avenger get remade as that most likely means we will get the originals on blu! By the way didnt Amityville Horror get remade just a few years back? What are yall thoughts about this list? Got Em!!

funny to see THE BLOB and AMITYVILLE get remakes since they already had them!

I agree that THE BIRDS might be interesting as well as CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (which btw was in development stages about a decade ago
from John Carpenter!) CREATURE is one of my favorite Universal monster
films but for some reason, I don't mind it being remade -- whether it's great or not so great, it won't change my feeling towards the original.

AMERICAN WEREWOLF makes me cringe a bit since the effects (like THE HOWLING) were state of the art for werewolf pictures. To see wonderful effects like that destroyed by phony CGI (AMERICAN WERWOLF IN PARIS anyone?) makes me not too excited... but you never know-- maybe they will take the time and do it right...

BLAIR WITCH seems like an odd choice for a remake but it could be interesting if it's done with a bigger budget and delivers in the way of
"seeing more" of what actually happened...

The difference is if the remake is done right! I have never seen the original TDTESS, but the remake with Reeves is crap! I think thats why it got bad ratings. If it was done correctly I think it wouldve worked. I just feel that those classical older horror films (if done right) could turn out really great. The storylines are already there but obviously for that time frame we didnt have the same technology and Im sure those directors had ideas that they couldnt put on screen due to this at that time. I think the Birds if done right could be a great remake. I tried to watch the older version and I couldnt do it. I know its a classic but still. Got Em!!

I agree with just about all of that. I never seen Blair Witch though so I cant comment on that one. Also the Creature is my fav of the classic old school monster/horror films and I would love to see a remake! As for the Werewolf debate, we already got the OG of AAWIL on blu so it makes me no difference. If it's good its good if not then oh well I will still have the OG version to watch. Got Em!!

remaking The Blair Witch Project is quite possibly the dumbest idea I've heard in about 15 years.

The reason the film was a monster success (other than being - IMO - extremely riveting, frightening and scarier than any other horror movie EVER) was because when it came out people believed it to be true footage and that it wasn't a 'movie'. Now, if they remake it, with millions of bucks or whatever, it will not succeed. What will be the point? Turning it into a mundane, average, boring "2010 horror" movie would be absolutely terrible.

The Blair Witch Project was never about some boogy man with a knife in the woods, and chances are, that's what they'd make this remake into. And you can't have this remake based off of "actual footage" since it's a mother f*cking REMAKE! I know kids these days are dumb, but this would be seriously pushing the envelope.

Leave this film alone. For me, it stands as an instant classic and still scares me - even when I watch it during the day.

As a side note to end my rant, I know that the creators were discussing making a third film based off the "mythology" of the Blair Witch, so that might be what is on this list and not an actual remake. Either way, for me, a terrible idea.

End rant.

thats the thing though, half the time i feel theyre not done right. the studio mostly puts things out just for some quick cash. people who like the classic will probably go see the remake. nightmare one elm street that im seeing the commercials for now, doesnt look good at all.

My biggest problem with remakes is that most of the time they end up falling short of its predecessors.

Tru however there are some very good remakes out there such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, & The Hills Have Eyes just to name a couple. I think that again if in the right hands some of these can turn out really good. But Im sure a few of these will also turn out bad. Just how it is. Got Em!!

The only good thing I think will come of that is we may finally get a proper transfer for Evil Dead II.

Agreed. And I think this is because even though they throw out words like "reimagining", "reinvention", etc. the bottom line is the studios and producers just want to utilize something, anything, that has a name that they can sell. Because it's much easier for them to continue to churn anything with a brand name than to build a new property from scratch.

But, I remain hopeful that if they must remake these films, at least a handful may turn out to be at least watchable. I'm not anti-remake as without remakes, we wouldn't have "The Thing" for instance.

Having said that, I think anyone that tries to remake Suspiria is an idiot.
