Default Trans-Siberian Orchestra

We just got home a little while ago from seeing the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. IMO it's the best show I've ever seen. This is the second year in a row my wife and I have gone to see them. This year my mom and my sister and her husband all went with us as well, and they were blown away. For anyone who still has the chance to go see them I highly recommend it. I think it's going to become a yearly thing for us. If you didn't go but were waffling about it this year, I highly recommend you go next year if they're going to be anywhere near you.

Yeah they're a good show. A live band for sure. I can't pop in any of their CD's and listen but I enjoy the spectacle. I've seen them a few times but I'm skipping this year.

I've also seen this show in my area. My mom is really big on them, so she bought me and my wife tickets a couple holiday seasons ago. Definitely an awesome show. I can get into the music as well, but definitely in waves. I can't really listen to it all the time.

Given the fact that these guys a.) seem to only have concerts in December and b.) have a lot of cities to cover, I think they may be not be one group but rather a troupe consisting of enough individuals to blanket all the major metropolitan areas in the two weeks prior to Christmas. Sorta like Santa Claus.

I think you might be right. I think the main shredders are always there for every show, though.

This is the second time I've seen them and both times it was all the same people with one or two exceptions maybe. They also announced that they'll be doing their first ever non-Christmas tour this spring.

I've seen them the past three years (will be skipping it this year though) and it's an awesome show. While I can listen to their CD's in spurts, it's nothing compared to being there.

Also, each year that I've been there, the main performers have always been the same.

I saw this end of Nov (week before thanksgiving) down in Philly with my Fiancee, Brother and Sister-In-Law. It was my Fiancee and my second time. I liked what I heard in the popular songs that get played on the radio but after seeing the show its amazing... the visuals are a really big part of the experience. So def agree with the OP, if you like the music it's definitely worth going to the show at least once

I'm pretty sure that the main performers (Those that make up the Trans-Siberian Orchestra) are the same but I think they use a local orchestra for the backup orchestra.

Ironically, my mother is taking my step father to see them tonight as his birthday treat. They're both pushing 60, but they have good taste in music. I got cool parents.

They're going to be in my area in a couple of weeks and my wife and I were talking about going. It's the only way I can listen to christmas music.

There are two versions touring. One on the east coast and one on the west. They move players around sometimes. For example, the female violin player, Anna Phoebe used to be on the west coast shows but has been east coast for the last two years.

Thanks for the clarification. I saw her at a performance last year and thought she brought a lot of energy to the show.

I just went to their concert tonight. I've only heard a few songs and seen their commercials on TV, so I have no idea if Orchestra A or B was performing, but it was a damn good show. The visuals and sound were amazing. Nearly every seat (even the ones way way way up, poor people) were taken. The 2 hours went by too fast.

i saw them a few years ago in birmingham. absolutely phenomenal show.

it was on new year's eve and they played a 3+ hour set. they even did a countdown to midnight and had balloons drop. it was awesome. i wanted to go again this year, but the ticket prices are a bit high for someone who's out of work.

maybe next year.....

I saw them a couple of years ago. Their "Nutcracker Suite" is pretty good but I always get chills during "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 1224". Easily there most popular song and for very good reasons. Here's some pictures:

And during the show

We missed them last year and then they didn't come to Jacksonville this year. I hope they'll come back this way next year.

Really Cool! I am actually listening to them right now. They do an awesome job!

Have you seen the people who hook up their Christmas lights to their music?

On YouTube there are people who do this each year. AS you drive by the house you can pick up the music on a radio station.

We had someone who did that near me but they used TSO's Nutcracker Suite. Still awesome though. They had cars lined up for blocks to watch them. That has to be a lot of work though because you have to set up certain light for certain sections and the testing of it has to be a pain since you can really only do it at night and you have to listen to the song each time.
