Huh, would have thought the 360 and PS3 numbers would have been reversed.

In this economy the perceived lowest price will always win.
Plus, there are a TON of people who simply do not feel they need Bluray, believe it or not. Especially with people so worried about cash right now. |

Also, if it were Best Buy's decision, it wouldn't have been 360 only. |

Pre-picked or not... Average Joe sees it as 'six free games' and the wallet comes out. To that person it looks like a better deal for a gaming console (see 'people don't care about bluray stuff' above). |

Microsoft is desperate to snag first place in this console war, and all they'll keep doing is keep promoting their console until they got what they want. Besides, they're a multi-millionaire dollar corporation, so they can spend a lot of money just to keep the 360 alive.
Sony, on the other hand, is almost rarely promoting the PS3, but only more often since the Slim was announced and the $299 price drop. Sony seems to be a kind of dormant company when it comes to promoting their console with discounts from video games and so forth. Still, I think Sony being nonchalant about the competition is a bit of a good thing, since they also have some products to worry about like their TVs, Blu-ray players and VAIO laptops, and they're still making money off of their products. But to be on topic, I was stunned to see that 360 is in the lead in November sales. Hopefully when the December NPD sales numbers start to show, I hope the tables turn this time. |

A public relations win for the Xbox, which is all that Microsoft cares about. Microsoft saw the tide turning against their system, now that the PS3 is reasonably priced, and reacted. I expect the PS3 to outsell them going forward, but Microsoft cares about the key holiday season numbers for marketing purposes. They know the gaming audience still distrusts them to some extent, and ready to drop them without a second thought.

After Sony inexplicably delayed Gran Turismo 5 it's what i expected. Sony seem to always react to competition rather than be the movers and shakers nowadays. We're in the the 4th year of the PS3 with no sign of GT5.
![]() A massive publicity coup for MS. Stopped the PS3 bandwagon dead in it's tracks, unfortunately but predictably. But i'm sure after all these years Gran Turismo will release but with viciously crital reviewers expecting perfection. Rather than releasing when it should of maybe slightly less than stellar but would of sold gangbusters because of it's brand a bit like Halo. Last edited by alanshearer; 12-11-2009 at 01:11 AM. |
