For under 1k, I think this is the best you can get. Processors are fairly more expensive then the Emo one.

Hello eclimax13.

I'm in a similar situation, wanting to upgrade my AVR/pre-pro to a modern day Hi-rez audio/video capable via HDMI processor. I also have intentions on replacing my Marantz Multi-channel amp for the Rotel-RMB1095.

If you can find a firmware updated Onkyo SC-885/6 or the Integra DTC-9.8, they're very good prospects, and both can be found underr $1000. I do like the upcoming Emotiva product, because it offers great value at $699.99. But if you can't wait any longer for it's availability, then the Onkyo/Integra are viable options and high quality products.

Besides the emo, their is also the Integra DHC 40.1 which just came out a couple months back that's 1200. Or you can go the used route and search for what ldgibson said.

well i actually went with the onkyo sr tx707 that was on sale for $479...i called onkyo and their tech support told me i would not notice too much of a difference if any between this model and the integra processors...so for this price i figure ill try it out and if for some reason im not happy ill use it in another place in the house...by talking to many people and reading many reviews...im just not sold on the individual processors over using the processor of an avr and putting money elsewhere...i definitely dont feel the same about external amps...adding the rotel added a whole new dimension to my theater
