Default What is your main reason for owning a PS3?

I just purchased a PS3 as it is the best BD player.. I could care less about gaming... and I am betting there are others out there with the same thoughts, but how many?

I can't check one or the other.

I have almost a hundred blu's.

But I also have about 15 ps3 games.

So, it's a toss up.

I bought it to play games, but I love blu's.

Can I say both?

I just wanted it because of Ratchet & Clank at first. But then, I realized how great Blu-Ray is, then I realized maybe Welfare isn't too bad.

I bought mine at launch, mostly to use as a game console. It was my only Blu-Ray player for over a year. Now I only use it for games and the occasional movie the Panansonic player has issues with.

I wanted a bluray player since I knew I was getting an HDTV.
I love to game so I went with the PS3 so I can game/bluray/stream/sexy machine (comparing to the 360)/etc...

OP, you should have added a third option: "both"

oh and I forgot, the PS3: "it only does everything"

While I have a few games for it, I mostly use it as a BD/DVD player. I use my 360/PC for gaming mostly.

I bought it initially for games. Although there are fewer exclusives this generation, there are enough to make it worthwhile for me. Blu-ray was a bonus at the time, but I have really grown to appreciate the PS3's blu-ray capabilities.

Wow, that's a good question! But, I voted for BD! Because without BD technology alot of great games, would of been just good! Example: Uncharted 1/2 and MGS4!

It was the best player I could afford when I bought them (2) I don't own any games, and if I were buying a new player today it definitely would NOT be a ps3

Same here. I own 4 games, but I rarely play them. Now I don't even use it as a blu-ray player, just for media center duties.

I bought mine in Nov 06 so at the time it was the cheapest Blu Ray player.

I bought it only for Blu.

I have a handful of games now but more than anything it plays Blu Rays.

I also use it for CDs, SACDs, DVDs, Mp3's, Mp4's, HDTV via my PVR's Media Center capability, Netflix Streaming, Internet Browsing, Photo Slide shows and more... IT ONLY DOES EVERYTHING.

We use ours primarily as a media server (with the help of TVersity), at first it was blu-rays second and then occasionally games, but due to a few games released in the past year, I think watching blu-rays has moved to 3rd place.

Blu-ray movies, PS3 games, PS2, PS1, Playstation Network downloadable games, upscale my dvds, and to put music and photos on it. The internet browser interested me when buying it but it's pretty much worthless.
