onkyo sr806 issue - Blu-ray Forum

does anybody know whats causing the high pitched beeps im getting from my speakers? its really annoying. some of the time the receiver works well but there are days when i get the high pitched sound whether im listening to music or watching a movie (never happened when playing games on my ps3). does anybody know? i feel sorry for my speakers...

what movies (format for the movies, blu-ray, hd-dvd or dvd) and what music (format for the music, sacd, dvd-a or cd)

also is it repeatable--same spot in movie or song each time?

actually, list all of your gear, everything!

yes its repeatable and it happens randomly in the movie or song. i have to turn off the receiver in order to stop it..its the only way. i only watch bluray movies and listen to mp3s.

gears: (used hdmi(s) all)
ps3
onkyo sr806
sony kdl40v2500

speakers:
monitor 70s
monitor 30s
cs2

When solarrdadd asked if it's repeatable, I think what he means is does the sound in question occur at the same place/s every time on a particular movie, CD, etc, or does it come and go?

Also have you tried switching out the HDMI cable between the PS3 and receiver?

I'll gather you listen to your mp3's on the ps3 (because you didn't list a different player), have you tried the simplest thing to switch the HDMI port that the ps3 is currently in? try it in two different ports and see if the same thing happens again. also, try a dvd and see if it happens when playing a movie with that format. also try a regular music cd and see if it happens then. try everything once in a different HDMI port and let us know what the results were.
