Default Fringe worth blind buying?

I am a huge fan of Lost, The X Files, Twin Peaks, and Dexter. I used to be a fan of Heroes but I became disgusted with the changing plot lines due to writers being fired and the story taking multiple directions.

Having said that, would somebody with my tastes enjoy Fringe? Lost, the X Files, and Twin Peaks are my holy trinity of TV shows. It seems that Fringe encompasses the theme of at least the first two, so I'm quite curious about it. What are your thoughts?

Yes it is and Best Buy currently has season 1 for $29.99 only $2 more than it was on Black Friday.

Dead on, i just started watching this, and i love it. Your first paragraph could easily have been written by me so i share the same taste. Fringe seems to feel like if X-files mated with Lost and had a demon offspring, it would be Fringe. So far i am really liking it, good humor and nice mix of individual stories and an interesting story arch. It is also a very addictive show, much like lost, as far as the overall story arch goes. I think it would be a safe blind buy judging by your tastes. At $29 your not paying much more then a dollar an episode, so good deal anyways.

I'm with you, never saw an episode but for $29 how can you pass it up. I picked up a copy today.

That was my thoughts. Thanks for your response!

From your post, you're making it sound nearly as good as Lost. If that's the case, I'll be one happy camper!

That's bold words. Lost is in a league of its own, in my opinion. In fact, I'd say it's doing it an injustice even calling it a TV show.

Anyways WOW! Just started this thread and already 7 people say yes. I'm just waiting for somebody to say what they don't like about it.

Off topic: If I order Fringe and choose one day shipping with Prime, can I add stuff to it and it still only cost 3.99 total, or is it 3.99 per item?

Agreed. The show is EXTREMELY similar to the X-Files. Closest thing you can get to it today.

I'd say it's worth a buy for sure. I blind bought it when it came out and loved it. I'm lucky number 13 on the poll.

I blind bought it the day it came out. Love the show, it's fantastic!
So if you do love those shows, chances are you'll enjoy Fringe. Just don't expect the show to be very similiar to them (The X-Files obviously being the closest to Fringe)

Comedies are fine on DVD, IMO. At least until DVDs are no longer available. That is, unless it has a killer soundtrack, like Tropic Thunder, which had gunshots and explosions.

Like you, I am a giant fan of the first three shows you listed. I have watched Fringe from the beginning of the first season. As others have mentioned, it really is a direct ripoff of the X-Files. It not as good as that show, but few shows are. The first season of Fringe is a little patchy, and only really gets interesting in the second half of the season, building up to a great finale.

I would hesitate on a blind buy of the show though.
