I bought it and it actually is a real good blue ray. The visuals are great I don't know what you guys are complaining about, it looks about 10 times better than the newly made Public Enemies. It has no grain but a smooth image all throughout.

I was expecting disappointment from T1 after reading some of the reviews, but for a low-budget film from the early 80s it's not bad at all. It can probably look a little better with a new transfer, but considering the budget price I'm not complaining.

aside from some really obvious print damage at some parts i thought it was pretty good. its just seeing specks and scratches on a blu-ray is so rare it was really jarring to me, especially for a movie of this caliber. could be better but still solid.

I've done an A/B comparing it to an upconverted DVD. There's really little noticable difference.
The transfer's not horrible and there's likely a limit to what can be done with this low-budget title... but when you have to squint and then ultimately say "I think it's a little better than the DVD in a couple of scenes", it's hardly "real solid". That, coupled with the loss of the supplements and especially the original mono track, make it a disappointment for me. The DVD stayed in my collection, the blu-ray did not. |

It'll be interesting to see how Lowry makes it look. That'll be a sort of litmus test for HD and blu-ray in general. If they clean it up and it looks pristine, but is still soft-ish due to the original film elements, then we will hear more of the "it doesn't look that great" and "its not that different than the DVD" comments from the uneducated. I'm curious to see what they could do with it.

I haven't watched mine either. But honesty I'm not expecting much from this release. As long as it's much better than DVD then I'm okay.
