Default Hi, my name is.. and I'm a PS3 newbie!

I've been gaming since the Atari 2600, and thought the best gaming days were the days of the Commodore 64 and about 10 years ago on the PC (circa 1996).

I've always been a stout PC guy, never much for consoles because I'm an FPS gamer primarily and could never stand the inaccurate console controls. However, I do like my 3rd person tomb-raider/resident evil type games, and did enjoy playing Resident Evil 1 and 2 back when I owned my first playstation.

Well not anymore! I've done a 180 and am now a stout PS3 guy in just 1 month of ownership! lol And this coming from a guy who's main reason for buying the PS3 was to play blu-rays, and MAYBE the OCCASSIONAL game. LOL! So much for that theory I almost have 10 games in a month's time!

I'm having the gaming time of my life. Especially since I have a 46" HDTV to enjoy it all on. ;-) The only game I have on my PC now is L4D2, and if & when that ever comes to the PS3, shoot.. I might never go back on my PC.

As far as FPS gaming goes, I'm finding that I'm doing just fine with the 6 axis controller. And GOD how I love that controller. I haven't gone online yet, I'll prolly get my butt kicked, but hey it was good to see I could get some headshot achievements in Uncharted.

I've got a lot of gaming to catch up on though. Just finished the first Uncharted. Just bought the God of War collection (OMG, loving it!). Have COD:MW2, MGS4.. I still need to get Dead Space, Infamous, Killzone, Resident Evil... and god knows what other awesome games I've missed since the PS3 has been out! Not to mention all the new titles coming out this year. OMG I need a 2nd job or another credit card!

Loving the PS3. Still need to get a router for my Comcast cable. Any suggestions? Linksys wireless seems to get a lot of great reviews on Newegg.

Peace,
Paul

welcome Paul!

PS3 is a great machine. And there are a ton of great games out there. Don't forget about DLC and Downloadable games once you get online. another money sink but some are very cool. I can recommend PixelJunk Shooter and Critter Crunch as some simple yet very fun games.

I'm not very well versed in routers so I can't help you there, sorry.

I will recommend you add Bioshock to your list if you haven't played it on pc. A fantastic story along with great gameplay. Batman Arkham Asylum, and Borderlands are also worth a look. I just finished up my first play through on Dragon Age Origins if you like RPG's. It's a good game too.

have fun.

Thumbs up

You should check out Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It's a massive FPS/RPG that will keep you occupied for a long time. I know a couple of guys that have played for 100+ hours! I think I'm just over 50 hours in and I've barely touched the main story of the game. If you decide to pick this gem up, make sure you snag the Game of the Year Edition.

Welcome, I was the same PC through and through now i touch it once every few weeks and that's only to play older games.

There are some good games out there, the great thing as with me about getting into the PS3 late is you can get some budget games that you may never of played but are really good games.

I loved the old C64 Race and destruction set, Elite to mention a few cool games
I had the Amstrad CPC464 woot colour monitor and all. Tape one before disks.

Two questions.

1. Did you like Uncharted?

2. Have you thought of buying Uncharted 2?

Welcome to the PS3 side.

If you liked Uncharted, I really recommend the follow-up. And if that tickles your fancy, check out the Assassins Creed series.

Welcome to the PS3 world

Welcome to the club! Been loving my Playstation for years and years through the different stages and 3 is my favorite gaming console ever.

In fact when my wife recently gave the OK to buy a standalone BD player to take some of the heat off my original 60GB Launch PS3, which I used for gaming and Blu watching, I immediately went out and bought a new 120 GB slim PS3 instead of just a standalone

Now I have the 60 GB sealed tight and in storage for use if I ever need a backup gaming system or BD player

Welcome to the club! I've been a PlayStation guy ever since the first one, and I've been going strong with my PS3 ever since 2007.

So you're a PC gamer, eh? I own BioShock and Left 4 Dead 1, and have a Steam account. However, I don't like Valve for hating on the PS3, but they sure can make some decent games.

I got a PS3 yesterday as well, although I probably won't use it for games that much.
