Pulse (Alliance, 1/5/2010) - Blu-ray Forum

Anyone know anything about this release? We're one day away from the release, it'd be nice to see covers and stuff. I know the movie is kind of a dud but I like cheesy horror and like pretty much anything with Kristen Bell so I'm interested in this. I just hope it's OAR (2.40:1) and the "unrated" version that was on DVD and the Weinstein HD DVD.

If the back over is to be believed, its 1.78:1 modified. Alliance must have had a licensing issue because they could have just used the HD DVD transfer which is 1080/24f at the original 2.40:1 aspect ratio.

Sigh...

1080i, wrong OAR. It's 1.78:1 instead of the correct 2.40:1, and it's definitely cropped and not opened up (compared to some DVD images, tons of info missing from the sides). It does seem to actually be the unrated cut, but whoopdi freakin do.

I hate this company.

I almost want to contact TWC about it and ask if they care that Alliance is butchering their films for their Canadian release.

Is this the only version of Pulse on Blu-ray worldwide? Any other regions get it yet? I know of the HD DVD.

I have not been able to find info on any release besides the Canadian one - I believe that is it so far.

It'd be wonderful if Weinstein Company ported the HD DVD to BD for the US, but they can't even do new theatrical releases (see Inglourious Basterds home video handled by Universal, Halloween 2 handled by Sony), so catalogue is pretty much out the window.

Decent flick. Sort of like a CW show with Bell and Somerhalder. Glad I grabbed it for $5 on HDDVD.
