according to http://www.digitalbits.com Dreamscape will be released on Blu-Ray April 6th.
Image also has the 1984 cult classic Dreamscape set for release on Blu-ray on 4/6 (SRP $29.98 - the title is already available on DVD), with audio commentary by the filmmakers, a special effects makeup test reel and a still gallery. Last edited by PowellPressburger; 01-04-2010 at 05:55 PM. |

I just watched this movie the other day on my Roku player. It was the first time I watched the movie in many years. And I was just saying to myself after I watched it "That movie would be nice to have on Blu-Ray." And gush just 2 days later It get's announced for release on Blu-Ray.Cool.
Yeah I bought a Roku player about a month ago. And even thoe it only outputs up to 720p.I think the movies downloaded from Netflix looks pretty darn good on my TV set. Well anyways cant wait to get Dreamscape on Blu-Ray. |

You must have seen the European cut of the movie back in 1984. The US theatrical version had that scene heavily edited to get a family friendly PG rating. You see a LOT more of Kate Capshaw in the European cut of the movie. |

He maybe talking about the scene with the guy who was dreaming that his wife was cheating on him. When they come in the room and she turns around you could see her boobs in the US theatrical version and now it's zoomed in so you can't see her boobs. |

I have this movie on normal DVD, i wanted it for many years but always put it off because many years ago i had very bad Flu and was running a very high tempreature, my Mom decided to rent me a movie and she got me this it had just come out and we didn't know anything about it.
Well all i can say is when your about 12, and have been hallucinating, this is without doubt THE WORST movie you can watch. It deeply affected me for many years and only recently was a brave enough to pick it up, and i still cant sit through it all in one sitting......LOL. ![]() ![]() My wife quite rightly thinks i am some sort of wuss. |

I am not sure why I broke one of my rules and purchased a 1080i transfer BD but I caved and picked it up at a local record shop that sold it for 19.99.
I would have to say it is somewhat better than a DVD transfer, all artifacts etc are still present, esp for the FX composite shots. and yes it is the PG-13 cut Image does vary from scene to scene. |

Well, *sigh*, here goes. This, frankly, is the assiest looking Blu-ray I've ever seen. To it's credit, you sure as hell can't accuse it of being hit with DNR because grain is rampant--"crawling ants over the picture" syndrome--and it is an improvement over the DVD, though rather marginally. e.g. a shot that soundly proves the BD is a step up from the DVD, even if the latter is upconverted, is one where Dennis Quaid is coming down a flight of stairs; the shot starts out with the camera locked in place, then it moves with Quaid's downward motion, coming to a stop again when Quaid reaches the landing. On the DVD, underneath the staircase to Quaid's right, we see the stucco texture clearly but it immediately blends into textureless gray-white as the camera moves, then becomes detailed again when the camera stops. On the BD, much of this stucco texture remains visible even during the camera movement. Beyond that, though, this is, quite simply, a poor print source, looking at all times like a 25-year-old 16mm print stored in someone's garage. If you're a fan, it's worth investing in for cheap (I paid $16.99, but it'd be hard to justify more than $15 for this, and really $10 or less is much more fair), especially if you can sell off your old DVD for a few bucks; all others should stay far, far away.
