Default Blade Runner and Sin city on BLU.. And Best PQ that is NOT CG

Do these EVER go on sale? I hear both of them are MUST own but BB charges like 34.99 for both ( in store ) and i dont have my damn credit card to order off amazon

Also what are some other must owns? I know there are threads like crazy about that subject but if your bored just feel free to drop a few suggestions, My library is pretty small, only 50 blus or so , mostly new ( pixar, CG stuff, ) But i would like to buy some blus that really show off real world PQ such as i am legend, kill bill , incredible hulk, u571 also looked very good... Something that doesnt have a TON of cg, but is just a beautiful blu to watch

Sin City went on sale on amazon once for $23.99. Every other day its $24.99. I got it for Christmas because I dont like to pay more than $20 for a blu. Even less for a catalog title.

Thx man, Rblu too..

Great list here, Ill never run out of CG stuff ( transformers irobot, star trek etc ) or pixar films to buy, But when it comes down to picking Very good PQ with just a movie with no PQ I cant think of alot for some reason..

So i heard Godfather is one of the best blu transfers to date, but is heavy on the grain..as is district 9 .. But a movie like star trek, sin city , 5th element are just so sharp and crisp (" blow" is actually pretty good as well ) .. So Is this all the producers decision?? Just wondering why on new movies they are not all as crisp and sharp of an image as something like kill bill or i robot.. ?

Almost forgot to mention Blade Runner.. I dont own it, but it got the highest rating possible almost everywhere I look

As far as PQ goes, The International will blow you away.

And Sin City is worth every penny of it's price. But for those movies stubborn to go down in price, I suggest using Best Buy reward zone certificates toward them, because it gives you an excuse to get it for a cheaper price, whereas most others will go down sooner or later.

Keep an eye out on Blade Runner. It was $19.99-ish here and there during 2009. I'm sure it will get another promotion if you are willing to wait.

Yea i was thinking about watchmen too, No country seems without even looking at a review that it has a ton of grain, which is good sometimes i guess.. what makes Sin city such a top rated movie? is it really that good Throwing on the flame suit.. But ive never seen any of the Godfathers.. and im 30

Sin City and Blade Runner do look great. Others with great PQ that I like are:

Braveheart
Full Metal Jacket
Raging Bull
The Road Warrior
The Searchers

Band of Brothers
Man on Fire

The Fifth Element

Film makers preferences and film stock.

For clarity, I love films from the late 60s and 70s. They just seem to be clearer, in focus, and less grain. They really seem to jump of the screen. It seems to me, nowadays action movies must be out of focus, at least the background, as much as possible. Also action must be zoomed in as tight as possible and camera must jump around, so you can't really see what is going on.

Ex. opening fight scene in QoS. Just my opinion, and I'm sure there are others that can provide examples of 60s and 70s movie that look like crap too. When I watch something like Dirty Harry 1,2 or 3 they really are sharp.

Anyway to tell between the crap edition that was released around the launch of BLU-ray and the remastered edition? Does the re-mastered edition say "Remastered" on it? I own this movie but haven't opened yet, hell I still have the SUPERBIT version on DVD. I'm sure this has probably been posted before but don't feel like searching
