Default Dark City Vs. Blade Runner

I own both and even over the spanse of (**Yawn**) 5 discs Blade Runner still pales in comparison to Dark City. I really think Dark City has set a new Sci-Fi standard in terms of production and replay value. Just an amazing, amazing Blu-Ray, just wish it would have become a series becasue there is still so much to tell.

I think both movies are great, however I think Blade Runner was much more of a filmmaking accomplishment for its time. So my vote is for Blade Runner.

Yeah, maybe I just didn't "get" DC, because the first time I saw it, it was just meh. I would not even think it is on the radar compared to BR.

This sounds like it's going to be one of those "Star Wars" vs. "Star Trek" things.

For me, it's Dark City.
All the way.
It's not even close.

This is the right answer. Beta Man wins the thread.

(I like Dark City and all, but seriously, there is no contest).

Who? "can't believe"? You of all people should know how to start a sentence.
Just ask your twin.

Absolutely Blade Runner. I'm kinda surprised with all the raves Dark City's been getting. I saw it in the theaters and thought it was eh.

Dark City for me too. I tried to watch Blade Runner back in the 80's, but thought it was boring back then. Maybe, I will try renting it again to see if my taste has changed since then.

Dark City gets my vote, if for nothing more than originality. The first time I saw the movie I was blown away by the story and all the little turns and surprises along the way. The new DC edition is even better because it doesn't telegraph any information. I have tried and tried to like Blade Runner, but just can't quite do it. Although I must admit the DC version that just came out is the best I've seen yet.

Uhm, you do know this came out in 1998, right?

I really like Dark City. My copy is on the way. But there is no way I would put this up against Blade Runner.

Dark City is awesome, but I gotta give the nod to Blade Runner here.

They are both equal in accomplishments. Blade Runner just so happens to be based on a story written by one of the greatest Sci-Fi writers of all time so....

As good as Dark City is, I wouldn't call it original. It cribs from a few sources, Akira for one.
