I like "Jewel Thief" movies. Rififi, La Cercle Rouge, Topkapi, Thief, The Score and even The Bank Job come to mind. To me, the "jewel thief" movie is a subgenre of the heist film, but unlike films like The Asphalt Jungle or Reservoir Dogs, it's more of an engineering puzzle than a military assault.

I'm looking to build up my bluray collection , so suggestions welcomed. Personally, the overwhelming seediness of The Bank Job didn't appeal to me, but that's just my taste. Is there anyone else who feels a certain frisson when that old impregnable safe gets jimmied open?

Yeah jewel theif/non armed bank robbery type movies are always a lot of fun. Haven't seen it in ages, but was Entrapment a jewel thief type movie?

Never saw After The Sunset, heard it was good though

Thought "Stark Raving Mad" was a well paced/funny heist movie. Not on Blu unfortunatley, but I blind bought the DVD and was pleasantly surprised.

I can't think of any that I like more than "Rififi". I wish I could see that one again for the first time.
I also like Hitchcock's "To Catch a Thief", but it is a catburglar movie, and is quite different than a typical heist movie.

Obviously the original Pink Panther with David Niven and Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant would need to be considered and then the little know film with Michael Caine & Demi Moore (Flawless) was also excellent.
