Just curious as to what you guys think would make the best horror flick on Blu-ray. My vote is the Exorcist and it looks like it will eventually make it to Blu-ray as last time I checked Warner and Columbia Pictures were the distributor.
Anyhow, I think the Exorcist would be perfect once restored, and can you imagine who freaky that movie would be in 7.1 surround sound if they can manage it? <insert goose bumps> To me, the Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time, and would be the best horror flick on Blu-ray. Regardless let us know what you guys think on what would make the best horror flick on Blu-ray and why... |

For me, it's all about mind-set. When I was a kid, i loved even the crappiest, badly acted horror films because I was just go gassed to see scary bloody images. As I got older, my taste changed but so did horror films. Everyone was getting so used to the run-of-the-mill, directors and writers had to raise the bar to shock and scare an audience. That still continues.
I love a good story that takes a different route. I was one of the few who dug Hostel because it did things I didn't quite expect. I loved The Grudge because it took a different route too and that's the one I'd really like to see on Blu'. I'm just too sick of one knob with a mask on, running through the woods with a weapon in his hands, chasing scared teenagers. The SAW series is pretty cool but starting to get a tad old. I still kinda like watching the old Hammer horror films with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing but their ability to throw a good scare into me is long gone simply because I've been there... done that. |

Theres only been a handfull of movies that have ever scared me. I remember being terrified of the original Hills Have Eyes. The Shining was scary as hell when I was younger, and those 2 little girls in the hallway still freak me out. The Exorcist made me sleep with my lights on for weeks though. Absolutely the scariest movie ever. The original Dawn of the Dead was great too. I guess recently that House of 1000 Corpses had me nervous, not scared. The Grudge was well done too. But not too many recent releases even shock me.

I guess the last movie to really scare me was The Blair Witch Project. Dont know if a blu-ray version of this movie would be much of an advantage though, because of the way it was shot. ??

Oh, my bad. I thought the OP was asking what was the best blu-ray horror already out. If I could have any horror flick on blu it would probably be Event Horizon, the two newer Chainsaw Massacre movies, The Shining, and 28 Days & Weeks.
