This is just a re-release for awards season, just with a shiny gold slipcover. Same disc as the one already released.

The stand-alone was a Best Buy exclusive which is getting wide distribution, just like Boogie Nights.

It's the same movie, but with a gold slip-cover. They're reissuing a handful of Oscar winners with these covers. I like the look of it, but why wait for February?

Yeah, they do this every year at Oscar time. It's just a promotion. I picked up The Untouchables with a gold slip cover last year at this time.

The single-disc was not available everywhere. There was some sort of limit on the release. Where it was available I don't know, but for most of last year Amazon didn't carry it. Nor was it available through third-part sellers. I interpreted this to mean Amazon wanted to sell its Collector Editions before offering the less expensive single-disc, but I may be wrong on this.

It's at a great price tbh, $14.99 right now! I think I will pick it up. I really want Atonement also, but probably will wait until the price of that one goes down more.
