How do you deal with people who are just not realizing they are making discriminating and racist remarks? It's like some people are so clouded by their own personal views that you can tell they are borderline racist or a closet-case racist.
I have a coworker and any mention of an African American and he goes off on a rant about how "those people" are. Or mention someone homosexual and he will tell you how they are ruining America. Or mention the Middle East or Muslims and he goes off on a rant how they are crazy people. Which is weird because he is Iranian and was born there and raised Muslim. So how do you deal with people like that? People who are so narrowly focused? The scary thing is what do you do when you know several people like that? Mods, if this is too edgy feel free to close. |
