Amazon UK makes me MAD... - Blu-ray Forum

I ordered Band of Brother Blu Ray and expected it to ship yesterday after a wait of several weeks and guess what? I get an email saying that it will take another 3 MONTHS!

Delivered sometime late April...

I wrote to them and complained and they decided to give me a lowsey 2 GBP cert. for my next purchase and then gave me the usual canned response.

Plus I get that feeling that come April they will push it back even more...

Anyone else have this kinda problem?

Cancel the order then. If they don't have it they don't have it. Buy it somewhere else.

I would, but they have the best price and Play.com (Which has it for almost the same) is backordered 6-8 weeks also.

Try buying it from the trading forum here. I see it on there fairly often. Besides, the best price in the world is irrelevent if they don't have what you want in stock.

Right now 2 of the hottest imports from Amazon UK are Band Of Brothers and the Bourne Trilogy...I had a to wait at least a month before Bourne finally showed up at my door...so yes, I am not surprise that you have to wait this long to get it.

If you can wait, just leave the order...in the mean time you can look around for a better price you still will be able to cancel before its shipped.

I've never had a bad experience with Amazon either. They are a fantastic company that really cares about their customers, and I'm sure this is more of a vendor on their side issue than anything else.

I don't view this as a problem at all, but simply a situation whereby you didn't get into the game earlier. I have no idea of really knowing, but I'll bet you there were 1,000's of orders for this title and maybe the studios are having a difficult time producing more. Amazon probably ran out and they have to wait for stock to arrive.

At the price you ordered (which Amazon will honour), I would NOT cancel and let it come when it does. You're not likely to find a deal like this anytime soon.

I ordered Mission Impossible Trilogy, and Bourne Trilogy on Wed Jan.27 and they shipped it out yesterday.
Can't complain, Amazon.com has been very efficient in my experiences and now it looks like their British partners are following suit. You can't beat 32 Euros ($47.76 CAD)for both, shipped.
Two thumbs up for Amazon

I canceled and picked it up elsewere for a price almost as good. and insead ordered Red Cliff (UK version).

Then I was looking at buying an AKG K319 headphones, as they were 1/3 the price of the US, but theres some dumb law or somethin' that won't allow them to ship electronics overseas... Sigh...

It's not a law. It's a direction from the manufacturer to protect the local distributor. If you ordered the AKG's from there, the U.S. distributor would lose the sale. Happens all of the time with most electronic goods.

Ok I get that, but then why does it not pertain to certain other items? Ex. blu-ray's, books...

I mean BoB is $56 in the Amazon US but only $30 USD Shipped from the UK!

Any way around it? I really don't wanna put down ~$100 USD for something I could buy for a lot cheaper...

I can't explain why it doesn't happen with all manufacturers, and no...there is no way around if you're buying from a reputable vendor (like Amazon). There are shops and businesses that deal in "grey market" items (stuff they aren't an authorized dealer for), so maybe try there.

This dont help unless your referring to band of brothers. My bourne got to me pretty quick, but it was cause I was on the first to order. Oh but it did have a 2 week delay but it shipped after the delay.

Amazon UK are one of the best internet based companies in existence, and I've yet to have a bad experience after shopping with them for a few years now, and I've bought more goods from them than any other company. No scrap that - they're THE best I've ever used !

Their customer service team are also extremely friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and swift if rectifying any problems you might have - one of the best service teams I've dealt with to be honest, and on a company of that scale it really is to be respected.

Why did you not just ring them to sort the problem out, rather than write ? I always ring them if there's a query and I get my question answered promptly, and always with a satisfactory result.

okay, I'm confused-- I just went to AMAZON UK to order the Bourne trilogy and it saying region 2 and may not play in the U.S.--
am I looking at the wrong release? isn't this region free?

They sound like a bunch of piss takers to me! I don’t deal with them they messed me around with region 1 Logan’s Run last year. I don’t want anything to do with them.

I’d look for different supply that isn’t going to treat you like a Muppet.

I joined Play247.com a few weeks back and its at best 48 hour delivery from the time they receive the money though (card transaction) to getting the order packed and sent out. It says next-day but its often 48 hours.

If order is made on Friday it won’t be around till, Monday, Tuesday the very least.
