Hey everyone!
As you know, the Oscar nominees were announced today. But which of the best picture nominees is your favourite, and you would therefore like to see win? EDIT - Sorry, I put YOU'RE instead of YOUR in the title. I wasn't thinking....and I'm just a moron. |

Up in the Air...why? Because it simply is the best picture. I have seen them all and although I would consider UP, Inglorious Basterds and The Hurt Locker as very strong contenders they are just not quite there for me but I would choose anyone of them over Avatar.

The list has grown demonstrably this year! It used to somewhere around 4 and 5 nominations for the year. Something smells here! Why so many this year?
I haven’t seen one of them yet! If I had to take wild guess I’d go for Avatar its bold and it might just take it for science fiction film and not many have done that. |

People aren't stupid, and will eventually realize (if they haven't already) that the 10 nominations is a trick to draw people in. Fans of something like District 9 might tune in this year, because it's nominated, but it really has no chance of winning. Being nominated in and of itself isn't a reason to watch. If a movie doesn't have a chance of winning, I can't imagine its fans feeling compelled to tune in, so the ratings will be back to where they've been for years, whether there are 5, 10, or 50 nominees. |
