3D version in New Zealand is definitely in standard definition. No HD 3D version. This really sucks.

Thats certainly odd... is it going to be 2 disc? or are they going to taint the HD version with compression by adding on the 3D version all on one disc.

According to JB it's a 2-disc release. I haven't checked it out in store, but I would be really surprised if the Blu-ray had two discs and yet only had a SD option for the 3D version.

I have seen the blu ray in JB Hi Fi and the cover definitely states that the 3D version is in standard definition only. I have also seen an Australian review that states that the 3D version is in SD only.

I have now imported this movie from Amazon UK. 3D version is in High Definition.

Actually I just watched it... on Bluray(single disc release)..3-D version..via my HDMI cord, display said 1080/24p..
now can a standard definition video be encoded at 24hz?, if so fine,
if not then it's a misprint on the cover and on marketting materials.

maybe it was too late to change the cover and the posters for video shops went out before they could check/change

It didn't look SD, it was crisp and clear apart from the discolouration which is normal on red/blue glasses when I watched it, 100% sure it was in 24p and only 1080p can do that. Usually if its in SD it will default to 50Hz.

It's odd that it says it is in sd on the back. In any case it is a bad film that can't even pull of a 3d gimmick (the deaths look extremely fake). On the plus side you do get to see boobs bouncing up and down in 3d.

I'm a fan of the Final Destination franchise (in a mindless, no-brain required kinda way) but FD4 was bloody awful. This latest instalment was a real chore to watch. The highlight for me was the opening credits (how sad is that?), which are constructed as a homage to the previous instalments. The picture looked great, audio was average ( FD3 had better sound design) and most of the CGI looked cheap and unrealistic. The 3 films previous to this one had better CGI/special effects than FD4.

I'd save my money, or at least rent it first, because I purchased the US version a couple of months back and sold it straight away after one viewing.

I wouldn't normally post my opinion on such threads but I did have valid information to provide, and didn't think adding my opinion would hurt.

Fair enough. Each to their own. But Im sure most fans of the previous 3 movies would be disappointed with the latest instalment. As a fan of the series (except FD4) I thought it a good idea to give fellow fans due warning.

But if you liked it that's cool
