Default What Cable Service Should I Get?

So I currently have Time Warner Cable, but i'm looking at possibly switching. TW refuses to add NFL network and has the least amount of HD programing. Uverse, Direct TV and Dish Network are all available in my area (Wisconsin). Any advice? Things you like or don't like about your current provider?

I had Uverse before and it was'nt bad, but it is probably the most expensive of the 3.

I have never had satelite before, but the 2 year agreement scares me a bit.

I'm not a big fan of satellite.

I used to have DirecTV, and I lost service pretty often when it rained or snowed.

You can get NFL network through Directv. I've had them for 10 years and the customer service has always been great. I believe they have a special where you can get a free HD DVR and installation for 4 rooms.

I'd say go with whatever gives you the lowest quote. Directv is very expensive but they are the leading satellite provider. I live out in the woods so I can't get cable, otherwise I would. However, cable has become just as expensive as satellite so either way you really can't win.

Directv for the win . Would never even consider switching (huge NFL fan ) ,unless they lost sunday ticket exclusivity. And while my monthly bill is high I have an awesome programming package and consider it a worthwhile investment. Oh as for rain/snow issues I will lose signal maybe 5-8 times a year for maybe 15-30 mins at most and maybe one or 2 times I'll lose it for longer . One thing I've noticed is when this happens often I can just change the channel to the standard def feed and it comes in fine , so theres actually only a few times in a year where all channels go out and its only during really crazy weather. When it does rarely happen just throw in a Blu or play a game

Ya...the weather thing can put a damper on the service but it happens maybe once every 2 months.

So I'm leaning toward Dish network on the advice of a friend from work. NFL Sunday ticket on Direct TV would be nice, but I don't think I can justify the $300 for maybe 5 games that I would normally not get to watch.

If you plan on watching Versus, don't get DirecTV. They're refusing to carry it.

Thats a good point. I'm a big MMA fan and I would miss the WEC fights and they will be showing UFC fights soon.

it's not an outright refusal on timewarners part to carry nfl network. they want to put it onto the sports tier so only subs who want it encure the cost. NFL wants it to go on basic so they get more add revenue. cable companies already get crap about rate hikes, and everyones bill went up in my area a dollar when they added the YES network to the basic digital tier. Channels like that are expensive. Granted, they are missing out on alot of business by not having it, and i'm sure theres more to it then that, but they've been trying to negotiate a deal with NFL for years over that channel

I know its not an outright refusal on their part, but I have expressed my desire to get the NFL network to them and they just send out a form letter stating they don't think the cost that would be added would be worth it for 6 games a year. But I pay for a lot of channels that I have no interest in watching, QVC, Lifetime, WE, etc.., what it comes down to for me is that every other service provider has been able to work something out, why can't they?

I would consider Verizon fios if its available in your area. I switched about 6 months ago from cablevision and I could not be happier.

I switched to UVerse for TV, phone and internet, and after a month or two we are pretty happy with it.

Yeah, we had rain fade problems with DirecTV, that's why I ditched it.
