Default Question about a problem with a PS3?

hey guys,

last weekend i Upadated my girlfriends ps3 to the current update 1.90 i believe. anyways she tried to watch disturbia, but when her system turned on she wasn't able to see the picture for some reasons. i asked her to check the cables, power, turn off system and then turn on again, the result is nothing. I adviced her to take advantage of her warranty and exchange it.

anyways wondering if any of you had the same type of problem, or might know how fix the issue with it.

thanks for the attention.

I'd make sure the output is set to the kind of cables you're using. Then check to see if it's the TV.

First thing that comes to mind is that the wrong video out got selected or 1080p/24 got turned on for some reason and her TV doesn't support it.

You can do a reset video modes by turning on the PS3 and holding the power until you hear a second beep.

this is the weird thing when i did the update for her, i used the normal 480i def, to see the picture. i didn't change anything in the setting. except the sound which i switched to fiber optic. and that should not affect the picture. was there any problems reported with the current update.

unplug the HDMI, blow on it, turn around 3 times, click your fingers twice. plug it back in and you're good to go.

but in all seriousness, when I was moving my room around I disconnected everything and plugged it back in and had the same problem. Unplugged the wires, blew on them, plugged them back in and good to go. Sometimes if I bump my HDMI wire the screen turns all sorts of weird green and pink colors. Just try the simple, unplug and plug-in.

Cool Is her TV older?

The "handshake" issue may be rearing its ugly head here.

Otherwise I would guess that the 24hz force had been turned on somehow. It SHOULD reset itself.

turn on the PS3 by pressing and holding the power/reset button... hold for about 6 seconds (it'll beep... then beep again after 6 seconds) and it should default to whatever setting is optimal (if you have a component/compsite (eek) cable plugged it, it'll go there, if you have HDMI, it'll go to the HDMI)...

sorry took me a while for a reply, actually i went to her house and figured it out. the problem was her cable not allowing the ps3 to come on screen for some reason. had to disconnect it in order for the ps3 to come on screen.

thanks for your help which is much appreciated.
