Default Question about region free BD discs

Hey guys.

I'm just curious. Are the region free discs still NTSC? And if so, does that not in anyway affect playback in a PAL PS3? (Or standalone player)?

Too bad this is no longer updated. I do not know if it answers your question but it is still useful.

Thanks! I was just wondering about the actual PAL/NTSC part of things. I remember playing a region 1 DVD on my old region free DVD player but the image was distorted. My DVD player was set to PAL and when I set it to MULTI, it worked fine. I know that the PS3 does not have a setting to change to PAL or NTSC or MULTI so I was just wondering if a region free BD might still not play perfectly because of that missing setting?

NTSC and PAL no longer exist in HD land, now it's refresh rates of fps.

All Blu-ray films, even region B, are authored with the same fps. You'll find it very rare that one is 25/50fps (the UK/Europe standard) at the moment.
Luckily, all HD Ready TV's in the UK (and I think Europe too) have to work with US refresh rates to get the HD Ready sticker.
If it were the other way around though they wouldn't work with US TV's as there's only run at their refresh rates (as the old NTSC TV's used to) with no consideration for the rest of the world
