Default Marantz SR5002 Receiver Thread

I can get the Marantz SR5002 for $400 is it worth it? My current receiver is not capable of lossless audio (has the inputs but I use a PS3 for my blu-ray player). I know that this model isn't capable of decoding Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD, but it's my understanding that it can deliver lossless audio if converted to PCM by the PS3. Is this correct and if so, is it a relatively decent receiver?

If you can afford the extra $100, accessories4less.com has a refurbished 5003 for $499 if you're worried about having the lossless audio decoders.

Should be a great receiver though. I've always been happy with Marantz.

That is correct, that's exactly how I use my 4002 - and it is a great receiver

I currently own the 5002 and it is a great receiver. Have owned it for a year now and have had no problems with it. Easy to set up and delivers great sound.
