My wireless controller, when hooked up with the play and charge kit, eventually stopped working. Specifically, the battery was old and the red and green recharge lights wouldn't even come on anymore.
So I have a new (black) wireless controller, and I just got a new black play and charge kit (includes new battery and new cable). Still, there is no red or green light when hooked up. Sometimes, green will flash for an instant, but it doesn't come back on. Using my backup 360 or PC USB does not work either. I know it isn't charging because (besides the absence of the lights) it is constantly flashing the low battery warning. The easiest answer is to switch to rechargable batteries, but I wonder, is this a widespread problem? Anyone else have this issue? I found quite a few google hits but no fixes. |

I'm having a similar issue with one of my rechargable packs. It charges, the green light comes on, but when you hook it up to a controller it works for maybe a minute before dying again.
I think the battery is on it's last legs so I'm considering a Play N Charge kit. |

I've had a similar problem, but it was the battery...Once I got a new one it did what it was suppose to do...My first controller that came with my Elite totally stopped working with the rechargeable battery and AA batteries, so it will be worked on as a wireless fight stick project...

From what I've read, the Play & Charge Kit's longevity and reliability are unpredictable (the most common complaints seem to be their inability to hold a charge, or if the controller remains inactive for an extended period, the battery pack may not recharge). Taking these issues into account, I picked up multiple kits when Best Buy ran a promotion last month.

I eventually got the external plug in charger for the batteries. I've found that I hated having to charge them with the cable.
But then I found out that the batteries have memory problems. I've had to throw away one already and the other two aren't as reliable as before. Time for some new ones! It's weird anyway using a white battery on a black controller. |

Strange update - I took the new battery and the new charge cord and put them with my backup black controller, the one that came with my Elite.
The light came on (red) the very first time and charged all the way to green. So my battery and cord are fine, but they only work with one of my two (both fairly new) controllers. Weird! |
