So, I just went through the review(s) of the "Metallica: Français pour une nuit"-BD,
and it's said to have almost perfect quality, getting a 4.5 out of 5. The official review saying you could make out the faces of the fans in the very back of a wide shot. If this is so, why the heck can I barely recognize the band-members their faces on a wide shot near the stage? What kind of ridiculous program did the reviewer use to get such hideous screenshots? Now I know, as the note below all screenshots, that it's like "just a screenshot". But I can definitely tell if the video is great quality or not by seeing the full screenshots. Every release I saw the screenshots of and then watched the actual BD of, I got pretty much exactly what I expected. Now, if this release has such stellar video, could someone please post screenshots that represent it better? Because the ones that are in the official review are blurry, blocky, interlaced and so on. I mean, what the heck is this: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...833&position=7 You can barely read the brand on the drums (or Rob's shirt), if I wasn't into music or MetallicA I might not have known what it said. Heck, you should be able to count the frets, like I sure can in this similar shot: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...625&position=4 Sorry for this rant, but I'd like to know if it looks like this or if the video is in fact great. Just seems to me like this BD might be as much of an abomination to video as 'Death Magnetic' is to audio. Last edited by Damage Inc.; 02-20-2010 at 12:59 PM. |

The video is, as noted in the review, great. The reason you see the interlacing in the screencaptures is because this is a 1080i transfer. There are limitations with interlaced video that are somewhat exacerbated by the software we use.

So there's also no blocking and such issues in the actual video? Cause there's more than just interlacing going on in the screenshots. |
