Default Are these companies that put out terrible quality blu's going to remaster them??

i was wondering if these companies that put out embarassing PQ and AQ blu-ray's going to remaster them.. or it is what it is and were basically S**t out of luck...anybody know?

i.e. T2, Last Samurai, The Thing, Signs, Predator, Point Break, Man on Fire, Die Hard 1,2,3, Elf.... just a few i can think of off hand that could be MUCH better

I think T2 and the Die Hard movies look great. Also film = grain.

Man on Fire got a 4.5 for PQ https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movie...14&show=review

Grain isn't all bad either

If you haven't seen any of the BDs you listed and are just going by what reviewers say, trying renting one and forming your own opinion. Reviews are nice, but I know there are a few BDs I love that have bad reviews and if I had let them influence my decision to buy the BD well, I wouldn't have bought it.

What's wrong with The Thing? That got a great transfer, both picture and audio. Never looked or sounded better. The film grain is barely noticeable. Not to mention some of the others you listed. Maybe you're just being to picky.

It's supposed to look that way. The grainy, blown out look was what TOny Scott was going for.

Die Hard WAV I would argue is one of the best catalog releases out there. A great example of how poorly some DVD's were made, as the DVD version is absolutely teeming with edge enhancement.

reivews do help though, i doubt anyone one is posting false information... ive went on the blu-rayhighdefdigest, and bracke abused some of the movies i named, however some people on this website disagree,im not saying bracke is correct with his infomration.. i see where your coming from with renting it first, but shouldnt these movies be top notch to begin with considering their blu ray?? it would keep people from second guessing buying it.. or having to rent it first just to make sure.. thats just my opinion

Last Samurai is my favorite movie and it had good and bad reivews... so i dunno , mad confusing

If I was you I'd stop reading those reviews. Rent 'em! You'll be glad you did. Don't miss out on a movie just because you read that they are bad. That's terrible. Judge them for yourself.

Case in point: My sister loves the movie 30 Days of Night but she told me the blu-ray video quality was in her words "blah". So we watched the movie together and I thought it looked great. If I didn't watch the movie just because she convinced me the movie quality was bad, I would have missed out on a pretty dope movie.

great example... but if a blu ray is just "blah" do they usually remaster.. ive heard they did it before with the fifth element...i would hate to rent these movies then buy them, then like a month later they remaster them agian... it would drive me nuts...

hehe The point I was making was that PQ is just an opinion. I think it looks great. My sister thinks it's just ok. So now that you know both of our opinions, do you want the studio to remaster 30 Days of Night? Or would you want to watch it and judge for yourself? You might think it's the best PQ ever in the history of all blu-rays and think my sister is nuts. I mean, she is nuts but that's another story.

**Edit: I read what you said again and now I do get what you mean. The only thing I can say again would be to rent it before you buy it. I wouldn't want you to waste your hard earned money. It's a tough call but I say take a chance. The Fifth Element was remastered as was Superman Returns. Anything can happen! But then again, them two movies had a lot of bad reviews...

Film grain isn't a bad thing. It is normal. If you can't get used to it then you are never going to enjoy Blu-ray. Or any other high-def movie format.

I think we're deviating from the topic here. I think a good example of what the OP was asking is what they did with The Fifth Element on blu-ray. They released it, realized it was a bad transfer, then re-released it with a much better transfer. Every time I see a bad to not so good transfer I can't help but wonder if they will do the same thing. Excellent question, but I think your examples just threw everyone off.

T2 will eventually be re-released with the extended cut.
