Rating threads are pointless. - Blu-ray Forum

Why be able to rate threads when alot of people just misuse them anyway? In my own opinion rating threads should be turned off.

Yes people abuse the rating system. I will rate my own threads a 5 star if I see someone who puts in a rating of 1 to begin with.

Other than that. I don't rate any threads.

Most people don't pay much attention to the rating of a thread. However, when you see more than 20 ratings on a thread, you have a good indication how well it has been perceived by the forum members.

It appears the Blu-ray.com members are not a fan of your thread, it has received six votes of one star.

You can't take thread ratings seriously, it's just a perk on this site so people can rate the enjoyment factor/quality of different threads. Some people vote honestly and others rate just for the hell of it. That'll never change.

If my thread is a 1 star which is next to several 4 or 5 star thread rating.. There's something wrong. Unless I have *hitty threads.

For example. My BJ's Wholesale thread was a 1 star at one point. I had to bump it to 5 stars so it can stand out like the rest of the hot deal threads.

Again, I don't care about them as long as my threads don't start out as a 1. That kind of makes me a little mad. I take pride and put much effort to keep my thread up to date you know.

I vote sometimes if it's a thread I really really hate (or if it's become a spam-fest or crap-fest), or if it's one I really really like.

But in the end of the day, it doesn't matter.

Some people love to 1-star every thread as a personal game. I think it's kind of funny.

In the rest of the forum i have no problem with the star rating system, its in the trading forum is where it gets bad, people over there take advantage of it and give ya a 1 star rating just for the hell of it.

Btw I know who the guy is doing it

Wouldn't even pay attention to ratings. It would be clear how I rate a thread based on the amount of post I contributed in that thread.

So if your thread gets 2 posts from Stewie then its a 10 stars thread.
