and before people start rehashing all the 3d nonsense again... let me spare you the hassle of typing it:
"i won't buy 3d until i can view it without glasses" "i just bought an hdtv and im not buying another one" "i'm not paying $150 for shutter glasses" "3d is a stupid gimmick and i hate it" "3d makes my head hurt" "avatar is stupid" |

No absolutely not. The majority of movies are not meant for 3D. Imagine the godfather in 3D. It would be retarded. Only certain action/teen horror/fantasy movies are good for 3D. On top of that most directors don't want there stuff in 3D. It's a gimmick and should be seen as such. I will get a new 3D display solely because I want a bigger screen and it will have this added feature that I'll use probably less then 10 times a year.

I can't lie, I'd be interested in 3-D, but I'll wait til the first gen of sets are out of the way and the technology becomes even more refined before I jump into that game. I like watching 3-D movies in the theaters, but it only works for certain movies. Now it seems like every film "has" to be in 3-D ever since that movie with the blue Native American mutant monsters hit it big, and it's starting to feel gimmicky IMO.
so no...I'm good with 2D for a long, long while. |

According to the front page news, 3D TVs are being rolled out in Best Buy today... anyone see one in their local store by any chance? I'm itching to go check it out in action...

I'm not upgrading to 3-D.
I'll wait for 4-D. Theme parks use 4-D quite often. That experience includes the use of fog, fire, chilled air, wind blast, vibrating / moving seats and sometimes water. When my TV can do all of that to me -- for a decent price -- then I will go for it and never, ever have to go to Universal's Islands of Adventure again. Used to be against it, but I would like something NEW on the TV front. Flat panels were the start. HD was the next thing. However, 3D is going to be welcome. As long as it works like it should.
Panasonic is making it happen and I can't wait to try it out and see how it is. Will it make my regular movies suck? Nope. 3D is just another level ![]() |

No, they sure won't.
I am not getting 3D TV that requires wearing special glasses. Paying $3k - $4k for that crap is ludicrous. I wear glasses. Glasses don't work well over glasses. They don't fit right, they are combersome, and uncomfortable. It looks like I'll be enjoying my 2D Blu-ray collection for many years to come. ![]() |
