Default Seeking Blu-ray related information

Hello,

I just ordered a Sony Vaio Laptop (AR590E) that has a blu-ray drive. Though I won't be watching a lot of movies, I was wondering if it is a tedious task to get blu-ray movies to work on the PC? I checked google and all I could find was information related to decrypting the DVD. Is that required to watch movies on the PC? I don't want to throw away lot of space to rip a movie. I want to watch it directly from the blu-ray disc. Is that possible?

I hope my question isn't misunderstood. I'm not trying to rip movies. I just want to watch it on the laptop cause the screen supports 1080p resolution. HDTV's are more than twice the price in my country so buying it isn't going to be possible for atleast a year or two from now.

I hope I didn't end up making a mistake by buying such an expensive laptop and end up not being able to watch movies. Since blu-ray is a Sony technology, I assumed the laptop will come with a sony software to watch movies. But I would have preferred playing it in Linux instead. It would be annoying to boot into Windows each time I want to watch a movie.

Please share some info.
